I'll be shopping at Woolies until Virgin/Velocity are back.

    • +3

Cool story bro. Clearly not making good use of flybuys points if you think that's all they're good for.

      • +1

Apart from some minor promotional transfers to velocity, I still have over 500k flybuys stockpiled, and that's after semi regular $100 gift card redemptions. This was mainly due to earning enough velocity via other mediums

What are your thoughts on best value flybuys redemptions at present?

        • +3

Using them as flybuys dollars when you buy groceries from Coles

    • +1

Just use the 2000 points and fill up half a tank of petrol at coles express at today's prices…

  • +2

Check the expiration date before buying hoyts cards. Probably ditto for Ticketek and webjet.

    • +3

It should be three years by law no?

      • -2

I believe that's only in NSW

        • +1

No, it's nationwide as of November 2019; I remember seeing a poster in a Perth CBD Coles about it when I was there in mid-November

          • -1

@kerfuffle: Is it actually the law, or have giftcard companies just make it default to align with NSW law?

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Did you even bother clicking on the link I provided?

              • +2

@kerfuffle: lolz even the url link preview should've given him the answer too

      • Is there laws about these things? But yes, pretty sure Hoyts cards have 3yr expiry…

    • I think somehow Uber getting all the action !

      • +2

The Home Giftcard might get some loving

Valid at these leading retailers: Matt Blatt, Adairs, Provincial Home Living, Matchbox, Urban Home Republic, House, Wheel and Barrow, Robins Kitchen and VIP.

    • +6

Also, keep in mind (as we know from many past examples) gift cards fall into the "unsecured creditor category".

Are Uber cards good for Uber Eats?
Can't imagine using any of the Uber (ride share), cinemas or travel anytime soon…

    • +5

      Yup, they are

  • -1

Good timing to buy Uber Eats GC
have already spend over $500 on Uber Eats since working from home in March :(

    • +3

Better order directly from restaurant to support them.
$300 to restaurants $200 to uber.

If you order directly to the restaurant $500 will.go to the restaurants

      • Not for pickup, no service fee until at least 30 June.

        • there is 40% service charge from uber to restaurant and about 20-30% mark up from the item price.

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Uber (and other platforms) are not charging the restaurant any service fees for orders that are pickup at the moment.

My favourite locals are either the same or only marginally higher in price on UberEATS.

  • Does Uber cards has expiry date?

    • When I redeemed mine last year it was 3 years. Expiry date shows up in the app under the credit.

  • For the people who've done this before - If I buy a $50 Hoyts and a $50 ticketek in a single transaction, do I get 4000 points?

    • Fine print indicates that you should be able to

    • -1

Normally only 2000 points once per flybuys account, check t&c.

      • +4

Yeah I did unlike you; it says per card type. So Choc83 should be able to get 4000 points.

  • +1

Good time for a top up. With 24% off, ubereats pick up is quite often cheaper than buying direct.

    • How do u get 24% off?

      • Actually 24.48%. Buy with 5% discount egift card from Good Guys so the cost is $47.50, plus you earn 2050 flybuys, which is worth $10.25 at Coles, which saves you $9.74 given you can get 5% off always.

        • Oh I thought you meant normally without factoring in these gift cards lol

        • -1

Can't buy gift cards with gift cards at Coles

          • @gilbarc: I do, and it looks like Endophin does, and several others on OzB do.

          • @gilbarc: You can. Just have to get an attendant to confirm the giftcard scan and wait for them to go and then you can pay with egift

            • @CVonC: Where do you get Coles gift cards for 5% off? Is the 5% off always available or just for a special promotion?

              • @harthagan: Suncorp benefits used to have them but not anymore :(

              • @harthagan: AGL Rewards sell them at 5% off if you're up for switching your gas or electricity

            • @CVonC: Guess it depends on the attendent. . I tried it about 4 times and only succeeded once.

I have never found a way to redeem my fly buys points. Does anyone have idea? For Woolworths, once it is accumulated enough for $10 off, it will show up automatically at the machine check out.

  • +2

Uber gift cards may be worth less than it appears. I have two phones with Uber installed. I have noticed that the phone that has an unredeemed gift card balance receives far less targeted discount offers than the phone with zero Uber balance available.

  • Anyone know if it is once per household flybuys or each flybuys card?

    • +1

      Household
