Aldi "Estelle Mattress In a Box" (for $229) or "Zzz Atelier Black Label Mattress" (for $368?) worth the extra money?

I'm in need of a new Queen mattress as this old Ikea foamie has fallen apart. My local ALDI still has a few of those Estelle mattresses from last months promo (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/525958) on clearance ($249 -> $229), however a lot of commenters suggest spending extra for the Ozbargain's Choice ZZZ Atelier from Ebay (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/523335) ($299+$69 postage)

Given that I'm a cheapskate, is it definitely worth the extra $140 and dealing with postage for the mattress? I'm not necessarily buying something for the next 10 years as I move a lot and there's a chance I'll have to sell my furniture in a year or so.

HOWEVER, you do spend 1/3 (or more at the moment) of your life in your bed so you may as well get one you like.

I can't try out either before I buy it, so what would you do?

Alternatively if whoever markets ZZZ Atelier on OzBargain could run another promo just for me? :D

Grab the Aldi, if you don't like it, return under the 60 day satisfaction guarantee

if you can stuff it back in its own box. good luck to you. the bed itself was compressed by a machine to fit the box.

      • I wonder if anyone knows for sure how does the 60 day satisfaction guarantee apply for huge things like mattresses? Do they come pick it up from your home?

Just drag it back to the front counter

This pretty much. Ive heard horrible things about the Aldi bed. We have just bought the ZZZ atelier one and its great for the money. Would highly recommend

  • see if theres a mattress topper at aldi, that way you get the softest mattress for about $260.
(i got a topper for $30 discount but got he mattress for full $250. still a cheap comfy combo)

Well, my ZZZ Atelier sagged after a year. I loved it at the start, but im not sure I would trust a mattress in a box again.

      This.

I have just received a refund from ZZZ after 3 years due to sagging.
It is only good for a single person to sleep on.

      Cheers

      • Pretty good value for 3 years even anyway. I wouldn’t expect to be getting 10+ from these

        • Agree.

As they say poor man pays twice :P

  • I own the Aldi one. It's not as great as my old mattress but perfectly adequate. Both were the same price when I bought but I was disappointed that the ZZZ Atelier one has no way to try before you buy. At least Aldi offers a return guarantee.
