  • She’s old but she’ll get the job done.

    • Less bulky that the Fenix range is what appeals to me.

It’s a good watch. I’ve worn it everyday for the last three years and had no issues.

        • Yep I have the exact same experience, I really love this watch.

One this to note is that the gramin eco system is a little locked down, so don't expect the watch to sync natively with many things such as google fit.

        much lighter than than Fenix
better battery life than Fenix too

      • I thought the size was about the same, but the weight difference is huge, I got mine on that previous $399 and sold my almost new fenix. Much happier with the 935.

Bought this for about $360 odd with eBay deals about 2 years ago.

It is a great device if your main priority is sports function (esp if you multisport cycle/swim). I only use mine for running so I guess it is a bit overkill but was a good deal at the time.

If you are not in a hurry to buy one I would wait to see if the price drops. Although hard to predict what the effect of the falling dollar will since this is an older model I expect prices to drop further as stores try to clear it out.

Also if you are not into multisports and only run then I would perhaps consider cheaper alternatives.

    • it gives you incentive to grow into other sports (hint: triathlon!)

    • Unless doing triathlons I'd get the FR245 or FR645 over this but for triathlons this is a
      good price.
I'd also consider the FR45 for a cheaper option if you don't want all the extra data.

    • 955 is coming out soon. But even then, the price will not drop much below 400. Have a look at 735XT. It is still $300 if you are lucky. I have bought it for $300 2 years ago and it was a grat bargain. Still sells for the full 600.
PS bought one today - with discount on gift cards turned out to be $416

      • 955 is coming out soon.

I highly doubt this as functionality of the 945 is on par with the Fenix 6 range.
If you bring out a 955 it needs to have something new which puts it in front of the Fenix.
Do you have a verified link to this?

  • I am neither a runner nor an athlete but a part of me still wants FR945 or Fenix 6X badly, for one big reason that I don't want to charge the watch everyday/ often, plus I enjoy technology in general.

I sold my smart watch earlier because I also love my other mechanical watches .

I have the Fenix 5X and usually get about 6-7 days out of it (incl 8hrs GPS). Worth checking out Coros though for battery life, seeing impressive stats there.

    Google Garmin OHR Cracking

    • Happened to mine just outside warranty. I emailed Support and they organised a refurbished replacement for me.

      Definitely a common fault.

    • The OHR sensor is inaccurate anyway, accuracy highly depends on placement on wrist and how tight the watch is strapped and even then its not great.
I never rely on the OHR data, I run with the chest strap which came with the bundle I bought on discount a couple of years ago.

  • mine same. the heart rate monitor was cracking about 10month.
