DeLonghi 3D Comfort Air Purifier, Heater and Cooling Fan $299 (Was $499) @ The Good Guys

140

First time poster (for a deal), occassional commenter, and long time lurker :P

Aldi had this for $299 as part of their weekly deal for today. Got notified about this deal when I woke up extra early to nab myself one of them. So glad I browsed online a couple of days before because otherwise, Google wouldn't have told me about it :)

The last time this was on sale, it was $349 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/481997).

Alternatively, Harvey Norman has it for $299 (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/delonghi-air-purifier-heater…)

So just how much pepper can this thing grind?

the problem i find with tower fans - and i've had many - as that they actually start to sound like grinders after a few years.

      • I found the biggest problem for tower fan is cleaning, most of them are nearly impossible to open, unlike traditonall fan that can clean the grill and the fan itself quite easily.

you get a leaf blower and you lay them down outside and u blast away. Cleans the dust away like magic, that's what i do anyways.

Keep in mind this is a heater/fan, not a good air purifier.

Only filters down to 2.5µm, nowhere near HEPA grade filtration. Also does not have activated carbon filter, so it won't remove odours or VOCs.

    Filter is EPA grade.

Just a heater, plus fan? Meh
If it was an air con, it's probably be weak or cost alot to run I assume!

there's no such thing as a fan that runs like an air-con. There are evaporative coolers (which add water to the air, raising humidity and making it much much worse in hot places like QLD) and then there are portable air-cons which are horribly noisy, expensive and generally, again cos of humidity, generally can't deal with the amount of water they are absorbing. The best thing is to get a split-system aircon installed to your home and then you're set, everything else is miles behind.

Install ice-packets in your floor or, alternatively, heating blankets 👌

Finding filters on clearance stock is also going to be a problem.

i have this… not reliable and noisy. brought it back for repair 3 times… heater function is ok but the fan is uselesss.. doesn't really do much. i rather have separate heater, fan and filter :)

I purchased this and have been using the heater function for a few days. Here's my take on it.
In the mornings when I get ready, I used to use a $10 Kmart heater which immediately shot a blast of hot air which was good whereas this is more gradual. So for the few minutes that I'm getting ready, I would prefer the Kmart heater.
Where this heater excels is overnight. I put on fan setting 1, temperature 23 and ECO mode and the fan noise is quite low. But the air blowing is somewhat cool with only a tad of warm air. My PowerPoint meter shows that when it's operating on ECO mode it uses 1250-1300 watts and when on hibernate it uses 3watts.

This heater is good for heating up a room of 5x5m and it manages to maintain the set temperature with minimal usage. So far I'm not overly impressed but it seems to be doing a good job heating keeping a closed space warm. In other words, if you set a Kmart heater to similar temperature, there would be more on/off compared to this heater because Kmart heater doesn't successfuly maintain the same temperature throughout the whole room. One corner might be cold and other corner hot.

As a heater with minimal usage and 1300watts, I'm happy with the purchase. Just set up in the room overnight and go to sleep.
