Best 365 Day Phone Plans for ELDERLY

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a 365 day phone plan for my elderly grandmother who uses her mobile for just calling- so I only need unlimited calls and texts, data does not matter, so it could come with 0GB's of internet and that would be fine :)

I was looking at the dodo plan which is $5 a month for unlimited calls and texts, however, if I could prepay for the entire year that would be ideal.

The ALDI $99 plan for the 365 days would've been great, but I don't think you can find any now.

Something around or under the $100 mark would be great!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

  • i found this. is it not available anymore?

    • Unfortunately it was only available in store from December last year and sold out pretty quickly :(

      • Hi get them this and then top up every 6 months.
        Less than $100 a year. 180 days special 3gb a month

        • if i interpreted it correctly, it will be more than $100 a year.

Buy 5 periods, get the 6th period for FREE.
Total upfront cost $49.75, up to 180 days use.

What happens after the 6 periods?
Your plan will auto renew on the standard plan of 3GB/$9.95 per 30-day period.

          6 x 9.95$ + $49.75 = $109.45

Just set it to auto top-up?

  • Some Aldis will have it in stock after the deal is over. Can look in the locked electronics cabinet or ask staff.

  • Why not get her to pay you, say, annually, and you set up auto monthly payments using your account?

  • Depending on what carrier you need - if you need Telstra it sounds like you'd be well served by a Belong plan. Pick up a $40 sim for half price, but sign up on the $10 plan so the credit lasts for 4 months, and then set up auto recharge. That will also mean that the year will cost you $100.

    • Belong doesn't use the full Telstra network so no advantage there over Optus or their resellers.

      • +1

Still much better than Optus/Voda in my area at least.

  • I thought i seen one recently that was $5 a month? Unlimited call/sms but no data.

DoDo $5 a month just direct debits from your bank account. Open up an online neo bank account just for that so they don't try to over charge you if you are worried.

I'm not sure why you had to say "ELDERLY", or "…elderly grandmother".
A person's age does not mean anything in this context; the call/data usage is all that is required.

    Hi,

I obtained a $99 Aldi pack in late March 2020. If you call 13ALDI the team can usually help you locate the stock of the $99 mobile plan. I did exactly the same thing for a person who seldom rarely uses the phone for data and just calls. I ended up at the Wolli Creek store as they had a good number still in stock. It might be worth your while to call Aldi and see if stock is still available.

  • Belong $25 Starter Pack for $10 @ Officeworks

Use option 1 to activate on the $10 plan. 12 months will cost $85 with 13GB data and you don't have to pay the full amount upfront, so you can leave anytime if there is a better deal. The first 4 months is covered by the price of the starter pack & referral credit.
