100

Had my eye on this for a week or so. Not quite as good as Frankie's from last year but a decent drop. It's supposed to have wireless android auto, one of a few in Oz.

The Pioneer AVH-Z9200DAB showcases a new level of smartphone connectivity in the vehicle; boasting a 7” multi-point touch-screen, Android Auto, built-in Wi-Fi for Apple CarPlay™ wireless and wireless mirroring with compatible Android smartphones. A host of entertainment options, including smartphone music streaming, CD/DVD playback, AM/FM Tuner, Dual USB, HDMI input, WebLink™ and DAB+ Tuner.

  • Nice unit. I have been using it for last 4 months. Only issue is apple breaks the car play feature now and then and I experienced sudden disconnections in the wireless mode. But I really like the wireless car play feature. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    • What do you mean "apple breaks carplay"? They don't support carplay anymore?

      • May be he meant that the software updates sometimes causes issues

        • Yes, I meant with iPhone OS updates, the apple wireless car play function became less stable. But I didnt notice such thing during the last month.

          • @darshu: I have an old iPhone with a dying battery under power management. Sometimes it doesn’t automatically wirelessly connect sometimes unless I wake the iPhone. Mrs Entropy’s newer iPhone doesn’t have this problem.

How do people even get these in a car? Most have crappy custom dash with built in stereos that you can't just remove

Many can't without huge modification. Many can…

    • Easier with an older car

  • Also new Sony XAV-AX8000 8.95" is on sale $700

$1200 rrp for a resistive touch head unit? for a similar price i would recommend Kenwood ddx9020dabs instead.\

Agreed. Have a capacitive screen Kenwood DMX8019DABS. Beautiful. Save even more and go mechless. Love the wireless carplay. Still, amazing price for a high end pioneer unit.

    Resistive screen. Yuck!

    • Agree, the technology is garbage and arguably more distracting on the road. When paying over 700 dollars, I personally would be wanting a capacitive unit.

  • Do any of these modern units have maps for navigation which are stored on the unit? Or is the expectation that you have 3 or 4G coverage when driving?

My dad needs a new unit in his truck, but He has the worlds smallest data plan. Don’t want him blowing his allowance when driving.

Nice deal, but as others have said, you want a capacitive touch screen (like your smart phone), not a resistive touch screen which are not as responsive.

Look at Kenwood units, they do capacitive touch screens

    • Pioneer also does have capacitive in some models too. I just installed the 5350bt which I'm really happy with.
