[PC] Red Dead Redemption 2 - $56.96 (After $15 Coupon) - Epic Games

350

I've seen plenty of people waiting for PC version of the game to be cheaper and this looks to be the all time low for RDR2 on PC.

Epic Games bio:
"America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed. After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

With all new graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC takes full advantage of the power of the PC to bring every corner of this massive, rich and detailed world to life including increased draw distances; higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting; improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances; tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal.

Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC also offers HDR support, the ability to run high-end display setups with 4K resolution and beyond, multi-monitor configurations, widescreen configurations, faster frame rates and more.

Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC also includes additional Story Mode content including Bounty Hunting Missions, Gang Hideouts, Weapons and more; plus free access to the shared living world of Red Dead Online featuring all previously released improvements and the latest content for the complete Online experience including Frontier Pursuits and the specialist Roles of The Bounty Hunter, Trader and Collector, and much more.

Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC is the ultimate way to experience one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, winner of over 175 Game of the Year Awards and recipient of over 250 perfect scores."

Can I play with and against steam players?

      Only on message boards

        This segregation is so stupid.

    • +4

Yes, both platforms use the Rockstar launcher. If you want to play with a friend you will have to add their Rockstart account as a friend.

      • So you can? Guy above suggested you can't so I didn't buy it. Need to play with steam friends

        • +2

Yep you can. Both the Epic and Steam versions effectively just open the Rockstar launcher. Think similar to how Ubisoft games on Steam work with Uplay. In game on both platforms I don't think you can even see your steam/epic friends that you already have added. You just have to find out their Social club account name and add them on the social club website or in game by pressing home.

Just wait another 6 years and it will be free.

purchased. epic or steam, both are always going to be installed now anyway, epic has made sure of that with their freebies and a number of games that i'll eventually play via the epic store as a result.

i think i'll get more fun out of RDR2 than BL3, it was a toss up on what to put the $15 towards. cheers.

    • Or Star Wars? Or Control?
      Can't decide.

Weren't there major issues with the PC version?

    • There definitely were. I'm now about 20 hours in and had one crash so far with no progress lost. A few janky movements when mounting horse from odd position. Not really anything gamebreaking. 1 annoying chase mission which might need some optimising (you're meant to fail, but by a small not a moderate margin).

Altogether I'm not unhappy with how I spent my 55 bucks, or my 20 hours so far.

Be aware, it's a slow paced movie style experience, rather than an action packed GTA 5 style one.

I was literally searching for a deal on this game and nearly pulled trigger on the $66 deal for special edition from cdkey.com.

I'm glad I have an habbit to do a final check on other websites before click on that place order button.

Thanks for posting this op, you made my stay up late worth it.

I purchased the ultimate edition for $67.

    • Which site has the ultimate edition for 67?

      • Epic games is close - $83.97 for Ultimate minus $15 voucher = $68.97.

Or Special Ed for $65.36 if you don't want standard for $56.96

      • On Epic games, like Rico mentioned. I remembered wrong but it's only less than $3 difference.

  • Was a bit unsure about the pc version with the reports of it being buggy and unoptimised.

Realised that I somehow had about $46 of Epic credit from years ago, so after the coupon I was able to pick up the Ultimate Edition for about $22.

Played about 4 hours so far and I haven't had any issues. Runs about 70fps on my 4790K/5700XT machine at 1440p on balanced settings. Happy so far.

  • Anyone know if there's an easy way to install Epic games account on multiple PCs in the same house? That is, family sharing in the same vein that Steam and others facilitate?

I presume it should be possible, so long as only one instance of the same game was running at any given time, but online info (admittedly from when the website initially launched) seems to indicate that multiple installs aren't supported.
