Is a Crumpler small bags any good as a day to day carrier for your phone and wallet for work?

https://www.crumpler.com/au/small-bags-accessories/garble-ro…

What do others do to carrier their phones, wallets, and keys?

As I now have a new phone, puting it in my pocket with my keys isnt a good idea with the chance of scratching the phone, and then stuffing your keys the wallet in the other pocket just makes the pocket saggy. So what can you do to carry all this stuff. Apart from a man bag. Which I am not a fan of, but hey the Boss has one.

The Crumpler looks good for casual days, but what about an office day to day environment. Work in a designer office, but most concervative in dress as professional type environment.

    iPhone - left front pocket.
Keys and change - right front pocket.
    Wallet - back right pocket.

    What's the quandary?

    • What are the other options other than that. Was holding my phone the whole time while out today and was thinking it will only be a matter of time before I drop it while your tying to pay and fiddle around carrying shopping. It does have a case. What you are saying is the usual set up, but I haven't been using my back pocket as I have already lost my wallet that way while at a park and it fell out.

Clear out your wallet, get a slimline one and put it in your front pocket with your keys. There's a reason men's pants have usable pockets.

      • Sounds like typical over-protectiveness when buying a new shiny toy. Once you get the first scratch on it and get over the 5 stages of grief that follow, you won't care anymore and will be flinging it across the room at the next redback sighting.

In short, keep it in case if you wish and don't worry about it.

If you really want a man bag or similar then it doesn't matter what other people think, get one. I think they're lame and wouldn't ever have one. Walking around Asian areas indicates others disagree and are happy with them. Fair enough. To each their own.

Edit: Another option instead of spending on a bag, get AppleCare or equivalent instead and really don't worry about damage. Just get it replaced if you ever do.

        • Phone is protected by case,so no issues. You can drop it any time. Putting it somewhere other than your pocket as others have said works. I was after something other than a man bag which I agree is lame. So it may seem, there really isn't a good looking alternative.

      • wallet in the front right pocket
coins in the little pocket within the front right pocket, and keys if they are small. cut down to housekey only if you can. otherwise keys with wallet
        phone in the left

pay for stuff with the phone as much as you can, no need to fiddle with the wallet. or just put the phone in your pocket for a second geez

    • The quandary is your phone in your left pocket not right you monster. Do you also put the toilet paper facing away?!

Bloody right-handers, forgetting us lefties exist as usual.

You'll be first up against the wall. Provided we can find some decent rifles for lefties.

I use front left pocket for my phone and I am right handed.

          • @Mechz: Jacket or trousers?

            • @D C: Rarely wear a jacket and most of mine have only 1 inner pocket.

              • @Mechz: Suits have 2 inside pockets (AFAIK) and I use the right one as that's easier for left-handed me. Vice-versa for other 90% I'd guess.

But left front pocket on pants? You're either a weirdo or a secret lefty. Come out and join us, brother!

                • @D C: Nah I like being able to use my left hand for my phone so my dominant hand can deal with doors, holding my bag on my shoulder, house keys, lift buttons etc. Funnily my parents are both lefties but my sibling and I are both right handed.

          • @Mechz: Same, feels more natural with AirPods, keys and coins in right. Depend what you're used to I suppose.

Wally and keys both go in my front pocket, I have seen and heard too many wallets being stolen from back pocket and I'm not willing to risk it.

  • My wife loves using it

      …and that's what she said!

      • Hah!

Seriously though, She wanted something easy to bring separately to the big babybag she brings around. So leaves the babybag and quickly pulls this out when she needs to quickly step out.

No need to bring a separate handbag with babybag.

Again depends on the person's needs. Don't think i can get away with this at work.

        • Yeah saw a female with a designer leather one with horizontal clear slots so you could see through it, which is what made me think if there was a version for guys. I think women can get away with it more as they already have handbags with them all the time.

By the way when I'm with my partner all my stuff goes in her bag, so no issues.

This is an answer to a non-problem.

puting it in my pocket with my keys isnt a good idea with the chance of scratching the phone

Must be those one pocket pants I've heard so much about

Was holding my phone the whole time while out today

    Um, why?

I haven't been using my back pocket as I have already lost my wallet that way while at a park and it fell out.

How did you not immediately feel the absence of your wallet from your back pocket? Only reason you should lose your wallet like this is if it falls out while you're on a motorbike; and that's why bikies have wallet chains.

    • Suppose I was wanting an alternative to not using the pants pockets as sometimes not ideal for me. The wallet fell out as I was sitting cross legged on grass at park eating lunch, so have since never used my rear pants pockets for anything. Obviously to all, pants pockets makes sense.

I have a sling bag I use when I’m out and about. May not be great for work.

    • Bellroy make nice sling bags in two sizes

    • Yeah there are some good ones there. Agree not for work.

    • Fully sick alert

  • Phone with Apple Pay and myki+drivers licence in one pocket. Keys with occasionally my wallet in the other. Always been that way

    • And so it would seem. No real alternative for my scenerio.

If you want to keep your keys together I have one of these holders and it looks nice and stops phone scratches! https://www.orbitkey.com.

You can also get this. Doesn't look as good though but the built-in tile seems nifty.

        • Qantas Orbitkey sorted. Monogrammed. That's not my issue with that. How do you keep the trolley token off it without the dangley chain.

  • What my man does is put his keys into a small drawstring bag, along with a fisher pen and his change; it stops the scratching and has the other advantage of not causing holes in his pockets. You can buy Phone covers that go across the screen and can carry cards, e.g. the MYKI card and a credit card so you don’t need to take your wallet out much. We both bought Apple watches and my phone barely gets out of the bag now. The watch gives me my exercise info, I can answer phone calls, it controls my music, tells me the weather, I do my SMS messages by it. You can even setup Apple Pay to enable payment from the watch. If you have an iPhone it might be worth looking into. If you buy one from Apple or Costco you can return them within 2 weeks if they aren’t for you. If you don’t have an iPhone you could look at the alternatives.

There are places where you can buy small leather sling bags it depends on how conservative your office is.

    • Some good ideas. Samsung phone, but can look at the smart watch.

  • Same as others..
Keys and coins front right, wallet back right and phone back left, or if small enough then front left..

  • Wor. What is it good for?

    • $60 for a pocket on a string

      • The price you have to pay if not putting everything in your pockets.
