    • Fingers crossed here too.

    • Sometimes they have white boxes with such a charger at $10 but be quick!

  • Bought a couple at lunch in QLD. Lots of stock left, seemed fairly accurate with the site that said 28 left yesterday/today. Cheers.

Edit: not sure how quickly it updates, but it now says 26 left. So I guess I'm the only one that bought them today 😜

  • Just bought one from Springfield Central. When asked, the guy told me he had other people ask him but it hasn't arrived yet. I got him to check the back and then look for it in the tools section. Eventually found it on the top shelf. Someone just put it there and didn't tell anyone about it. So they are available now if someone wants it.

    • Yeah, it was mixed in with the normal red batteries at my store. Might be people who hide it… Who knows. There was 13 left in my store and I bought 2 which we had to open a box for. The other one was in the mix with normal 4ah behind the counter

      • Batteries are usually behind the counter. You mean staff hiding it?

9/10 of the bunnings staff wouldn't give 2 shits what gets sold for what price.

        • Looks like the 2 different types of batteries came out of the same box. It had 10~12 batteries in the box. Either they where placed there on purpose, or came from supplier like that, which means staff at other stores sorted them

  • More at Notting Hill again, maybe 10 left ?

    • I bought mine (2 of them) at Notting Hill. One was in the pile of normal batteries behind the counter, the other one was still in the red battery's supply box and not filled onto shelf.

      2 days ago was 14-my2=12

Just checked stock checker now, 1 left in system, prob can't be found in store…

  • Plenty at South Nowra, NSW, which rarely happens!

Went to Epping Vic, said they don't have it and they won't price match

    • +2

The stock checker say they do, and it was extremely accurate for me - even reducing by 2 within 20 minutes of me buying 2. I’d ask someone else in store.

Show them the product number (0169989) and ask them to double-check.

On Monday, after striking out at Epping, I went to Northland (VIC), the guy said they don't have any, so I gave him the product number and he looked it up on the computer and he agreed that there should be 20. He called over some other guy, who said they might be on "that trolley over there" (a big 1 cubic metre cage full of boxes of tools) but it wasn't. They said, that it's probably out the back, and should be on the shelves the next day, so I should "come back tomorrow".

I ended up going back to Epping this morning. The "behind the glass" stock now had some all-black boxes, but no "sale" price tag or anything - just the $69 price. I asked him to scan the black box, to confirm that it rung up at $39. I bought two; looked to be about 4 left.

      • alright cheers i'll try again or go another store. i will try the product number (0169989)

yeah i had the same, i went to get the batteries, and the counter lady got it from the glass. i asked if it was 39, she scanned and said 69, and i showed her the pic. she had to get the manager of the tool shop? and she also said "i dont know why caroline springs marked it down and i aint gonna price match other stores its not my policy" something like that. i was bummed cos epping was like half hr drive for me.

The special price one is a "promotional product". They aren't marking down anything, just having a special order of a different product that happens to do the same job, and with limited stock that runs out in a few days.

The box for the promotional version is all black instead of half red. They'll probably put them in with the non-promotional version, without knowing the difference.

Maybe phone first, and ask for the promo $39 one in all-black box (give product number, and maybe Ozito part code "PXBP-40B" that's on the box), and ask if they'll put it aside for you.

Alternatively, you can do "click & collect".

  • Can anyone who's had the Ozito batteries for a few years comment on degradation? How fast do they degrade if not used often? Probably no point in buying a few if I have to re-buy them every few years.

    • Agree with you since the batteries are only covered for 3 years. For me I have 3 x 3AH ones and a 2AH one. If anything goes wrong I would just go to Bunnings & try to change for new ones.

I have two batteries that are about 2 years old, one (2Ah) came with an impact drill and a fast charger; the other (4Ah) I bought separately on a previous sale. I haven't noticed any degradation on either. But I don't use them very often - maybe for about an hour or two once every couple of months. I have a couple of newer batteries, no issues there either.

I saw a youtube video where a guy talked about the fast charger being harder on the batteries than the standard charger, so I'm keeping an eye out for when those go on sale.

I've had about a dozen batteries of different capacities for 3+ years. Initially I thought they'd fail after 2-3 years but they've all been excellent. Sure they've lost some stamina over the years but I'd approximate only about 10%, maybe 15% tops. I use the majority of them on a big resto/reno project across multiple tools simultaneously usually every weekend however I have some in another property that only get used once or twice a year so they sit in storage until then and they've also lasted really well.

I'm also reasonably comfortable knowing that the cells are fairly standard. If Bunnings/Ozito finish with the PXC line, I'm reasonably confident I'll be able to replace the cells with ones from online, or scavenged from an Aldi battery, or Makita or Ryobi or whatever.

  • Has Bunnings ever put the red batteries on sale to match Aldi or is it always the black one that comes out to match?

    • +1

The whole black vs red thing is only a few months 'new'. For years they only had the red batteries and dropped the price on them but they introduced the black batteries within the last 6 months and now use them for the lower price stock leaving the reds alone.

  • Got 2 from my local shop.

I am kind of amazed that every time Bunnings have special deals they will just hide it in a corner or not put in the usual spot together with the products with same category.

Feels like they do not really want you to find it.

Double-Edged sword though because if they did put them in the normal place you may not have scored yours :)

    • Yep at my store they were sitting behind the tool counter with a price tag of $69 beneath them. They scanned at $39 though.

  • Just bought one from Chatswood Bunnings. The guy in the tool shop had to look for them but quickly found them. Had to open a fresh carton, looks to be 10 per carton. Stock levels were 20 before I went and now show 19 so that matches up.

  • Bought one at Northland, Preston. There were probably about 9 left, they are right at the tool shop checkout counter, I almost settled on the 3Ah + charger for $59 until i saw it at the checkout counter.
