Best Mobile Plan with Unlimited National and International Calls and at least 10GB per month

Hi all, my optus Note 9 mobile plan is about to end and I am looking to switch to a cheaper BYO plan. I'm looking for a prepaid/postpaid plan which has:

  • Unlimited national calls and sms.
  • Unlimited International calls to countries including Hong Kong.
  • At least 10GB per month.
  • Contract no longer than 1 year

What are some suggestions and I would like to hear your experiences with your current provider.

The Belong regular plan + international calls works out to be $30/month with no lock in contract or you can get the 40GB plan for $10 more.

    • Thanks, this seems to be a good value plan. How about their coverage and speeds? I notice that they're using the telstra network, but does that mean they get the same coverage and bandwidth as Telstra users?

It is good value. Speeds are quite good. They don't get the same coverage/speeds as they use the Telstra wholesale network and not the retail network. Not a massive issue if you live in suburbia/CBD. You can a broad map here.

Interesting info, seems like Boost Mobile actually uses the full Telstra network.

Assuming you're after something cheap as well.
Optus has $120gb for a yearly plan but no international calling. Could use whatsapp or another app for overseas calls.

Boost has 80gb for a year for $150 (deals are $130) or 240gb for $300 with international calling. Data is a bit less but with covid you may end up using less data and can buy another plan to top up.

    • Thanks, but I definitely need international call minutes too.

The boost (Telstra reseller) plan 240gb for $300 is probably good for you then unless someone comes up with a better deal.

Oh yeah, that equates to $25 per month with 20GB and unlimited international calls too. Nice!

Aldi mobile $25 per month value pack. Set to auto recharge.

Telstra coverage (not 'full' Telstra apparently, but far better than Optus in my experience), 18GB data per month and unlimited data rollover. I currently have 160GB of available data because I never use the full amount.

Unlimited international calls to 15 countries including Hong Kong. No contract and no full year payment you might regret if a better deal comes among.

Yeah, the no lock in contract is pretty tempting. As I'm not sure when I might switch phones and maybe join a with-phone contract sometime next year. I'm still waiting for the Samsung S21 or Note 21. If I can wait long enough for the Note 21, then it will most likely be in August 2021 which I can just get the $150 Boost Mobile 1 year plan which turns out cheaper at $12.5 per month. But if I decide to switch to the S21 which comes out in March, then I will have a few months remaining on Boost. But hey I can always wait a few months after release and look for better deals. Regardless, thanks for your suggestion.

  • Vaya - $25 plan

  • Pennytel's Large plan is $25/month with 10 GB of data, and unlimited calls to 15 countries (including Hong Kong).

No lock-in contract, postpaid, using Telstra Wholesale. Sign up before 24 May and get 25% off for the first 3 months – making it $18.74/month for those months.

Could possibly get another 7% cashback using Cashrewards.
