Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub $99 + Free Shipping @ RACV

500

RACV was strangely the distributor in Australia when it was launched over here. I was in Jb hifi and it was at the RRP of $199. This is not the standard Hub but the WiFi mesh capable unit. I've had 3 (now 4) in my double story house for the last year or so and love it. They also have the $199 started pack which is even better value, I originally paid $299. Grab the starter kit and an extra hub and you have a home automation and WiFi mesh system for $299. I bought one for my elderly mother in law who lives on here own. We are notified if she hasn't returned to the bedroom after going to the toilet at night and interfaces with Arlo to allow the siren to be used when motion is detected while away. Interfaces nicely with Philips hue.

  • fffff man , I was after this last year and couldn't find any in Australia(was around 350USD) while i needed a Hub which supported Zig/Z-wave too.

The equivalent of this is TP-link M9 supporting Zig-Bee but that's much better and more expensive from performance perspective.

The weakness of Samsung is it's =====> 2x2 MiMO <======, whoever buys it , just note so later don't curse Samsung for poor Wifi performance…lol

  • SAVE40 doesn't seem to work anymore on the wifi hub, anyone getting the same issue?

    • Code has been de-activated mate

      • Looks like the Wifi hub has also been taken off the store.
Shame I missed it, I've been looking for this for a while now, that or the standard non wifi hub.

I just wanted something to be able to use zigbee/z-wave wireless buttons.

        • Same here.. I had it in cart but it timed out and I missed out =(
Bought the sensors though and I will now wait for a hub sale LOL

Party’s over boys and girls. Item isn’t showing up in the store now

  • I think Samsung is discontinuing this model… Perhaps a new one coming out soon?

Reason I say it is RACV has gone out of stock and on Samsung EPP they aren't even listing it anymore.

  • So i bought a smart things to integrate to HA to cover Z-wave and secondary zigbee, hopefully it will do a good job

  • So I got 1 hub but wanted 3 for a mesh system. Any tips on where to get another couple for a good price?

  • Can this be used as a WIFI router?

  • I tried live chat to see if they knew if any more stock would be coming in, but they just palmed me off to call them during business hours.

    • Gonna need some answers, they've taken $360 out of my CC but no order

  • Just got an email advising item is out of stock, refund to be processed. $50 credit for the troubles.

  • I just got this email
You recently purchased 1 SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub from RACV Home Security. Unfortunately, due to a system malfunction, the item sold out prior to your purchase being finalised.

  • So guess that is there way to cover up for the mistake of the SAVE40 code

    • why can't they just be straight forward lol

  • +2

Got the same email. What use is the $50 store credit? There isn't anything worthwhile now to spend it on!

    • +2

hah they are very aware that the 50 is sort of useless

    • and only 90 days to use it

    • They've still got the smartthings motion sensor in stock. Two of those for $8 ain't bad I suppose

  • Haven't received an email with $50 credit but I tried to get the kit not the hub. Hope the $50 comes to me as well. Did you guys that get it get a confirmation email when you ordered?

    • I received a confirmation email when I ordered.

Reply back from RACV when asking about the voucher and if they getting more stock in
The shop is currently up to date with the stock that’s available. We will also not be offering any further SmartThings products as the range has been discontinued at RACV.

    • Oh dang! Thanks for letting us know!

  • If anyone doesn't want their $50 credit I'll be willing to buy it.

  • I ordered a Wifi Hub with the 40% off code. I never received a cancellation email so it looks like they are honouring it! I got a tracking email from Australia Post today letting me know that something is on it's way from 'If Undelivered please return to'. I think this may be it.

    • Got the same email this morning - we could be lucky.
It's either from RACV , Adidas or PetBarn. Waiting from all.

      • +1

A I don't have anything coming from either Adidas or Petbarn, it sounds like the vague from location of 'If Undelivered please return to' must be RACV. Looks like we got lucky.

        • +1

Yes there's hope yet, the vague from location of 'If Undelivered please return to' must be RACV.

I got the same Auspost notification ! I'm so happy our new house were building is going to be kitted out I got 3x starter kits.

      • +1

Ah that's where all the starter kits went to.

        • haha im usually not the hoarder type but this deal fit right into my life hence the slight abuse

          • +1

@razorite: Great to see you will make good use of them.
I bought the starter kit to play around with the technology seeing I could get 40% off.

  • If anyone here ordered the starter kit and wants to part with please let me know, I've been wanting to buy one for a while now and was too slow to get onto this deal!

I received my items today it's rubbish very old stuff needs connected to the ethernet cable 🤣

    • You mean all Mesh wifi devices or just one and then others can connect wirelessly to create mesh ?

      • -2

Sorry I did not try that yet.

  • Received mine too

Anyone on FTTP and have this connected straight to the NBN box?

Or do I need another modem, I was under the impression that you do not need a modem for FTTP NBN.

    • Yes you do need modem router as well.

  • Just received my order today

  • Just received order today of the smartthing wifi as well. now reading another buried page, the chart shows that you have to make an ethernet connection per the comment above. Anyone installed yet and confirm that? I thought whole premise mesh was wifi connectivity, otherwise it's just another access point?

this one is supposed to be the smartthings wifi based on model number

  • Just wondering do the kogan-smarterhome10w bulbs https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-smarterhome10w-rgb-cct-co… work with the Samsung SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub also all the Kogan smarterhome gear ?

    • +1

Just reading this. Yes, the Kogan bulbs work with this but not out of the box. You need to flash Tasmota firmware to the bulbs for it to work. Google it if you’re not familiar with it. There’s a learning curve. I’ve done just that although I use a Hubitat hub. Similar process.

      • Thanks for your reply will Google it as you suggested
        Cheers
Ps In for a learning curve :)
        Greatfull for any help ….

  • I have submitted two transaction disputes to my bank this morning to the amount of $178.80 x 2.

I called RACV over a week ago and they gave me an email address to follow up, email was sent straight away and no reply was provided all week. They've now had my money for what's going on a full credit card cycle. Disappointed in RACV.

    • +1

I've had to do the same as I never received my refund, followed up with an email with no reply. Credit card is now chasing it.

      • I did end up receiving a refund from Racv without the banks involvement. They took them 15 days. From 21st to 5th.

      • NAB has started the transaction dispute so the two transactions have been flagged on my statement.
