Steelseries Apex 5 Hybrid Mechanical Gaming Keyboard shipped and sold by Amazon US through Amazon AU (Couldn't fit full thing in the title sorry).

Previous price was $171 and closest reliable price I can find is $199 on Mighty Ape (correct me if wrong). Amazon AU has it for $204.99 and JB HiFi for $249

Shipping does take a few weeks but well worth the price.

(First post so please let me know if I did anything wrong)

    Twisted my arm..

  • Damn if only i needed another Keyboard :) good deal OP nice find.

  • I've never had a mechanical kb before. For this price it might be time to get one.

"hybrid mechanical" sounds like a marketing ploy tbh. Not saying it's a bad deal but don't expect it to feel like a true mechanical

      • looking at their web site, they used mechanical switch and membrane for the contact and protect against spills and dust.
feel …even amongst full mechanical they feel different from brand to the next.

    • Same, bought a Logitech K270 unifying KB for $29 at the start of the work from home period, not very quiet but does the job (wouldn't want any cheaper quality).

A mate got a 'Drop CTRL High-Profile Mechanical Keyboard' and reckons they are awesome. Expensive though but customization etc.

I'd probably want brown switches so it's not too clicky and loud, don't know if this amazon one features that?

      • Hybrid mechanical blue switches. Looks to have a click bar, so it's gonna be loud, even by mech keyboard standards.

I think Kogan still has the Brown TKL for under 50 from memory if you don't need the numpad.

      • I have a Logitech G710 from way back. It has cherry browns. I bought a second keyboard Corsair strafe last year which uses cherry black silent. It's linear and I find it much better experience personally. It was not cheap but it was worth it.

Not worth buying. Better to save up and get a Ducky one 2 with better keys and quality.

      Double the price doeee

      • Pccasegear selling it the TKL ones for 230. Got mine for 189. Worth every dollar! Save up and cop, instead of this cheap one

Is this better than the HP OMEN one?

    • +5

Its definitely more popular - I bought the OMEN one, from the small amount of reviews about it it seems like itll hold up quite decently, especially at the price it is. Though to be honest, if I caught this one before OOS I probably would've went with the steelseries.

      • Omen doesn't have backlights ;)

Disregard that was the one on eBay not the new deal.

    • Was wondering the same thing myself!
One thing the Omen does appear to have over this is the Macro keys which isn't bad for working from home.
