if this was 2070s id be all over it

    • +6

ETA for 2070 Galax Stock is early July

      OP

      • Will you also be doing a Sale on 2070S? :)

        • Hi Rambao,

We will have a better idea of pricing closer to this date.

We do have units on backorder through our supplier but we can't confirm this yet

          OP

    • Yep it's a rip off.

  • -2

$480 and $599 the other day from umart this ain’t much of a deal

    • -1

$480 was a price error that eventually got refunded

      • +2

        480$ - orders went through

        • Yeah my bad, read the note on the deal and didn’t bother to read the rest.

      • +2

My $480 card was delivered yesterday so they did follow through.

        • Wish I had been online a bit earlier to score that deal! Well done!

        • +3

Wow what company? Spread the positive feedback for their good act

          • @scottySK: Not sure why im getting down voted the deal was legit and they sent the cards?

        • Same here expected 25th of may the deal was legit.

    • +4

To be fair, one had a pricing error whereas the $599 model does not include shipping though

  • -5

one little advice mate, $599 would look much better than $600.

  • +1

    Great deal. Thanks OP

  • -2

why is this so expensive ? i grabbed a 2080 for 920 dollars and that was like 2 years ago ?

    • +10

      Hi Yellow,

You might see a price difference for the following reasons:

      • 2060 Variants are now cheaper than their launch price as 2060 Supers have taken their original price point

      • Covid19 is creating massive supply chain delays causing a rising price on PC Parts

      • Shipping prices have risen due to Covid19

      • Aussie Dollar isn't at an optimal rate of conversion

      I hope this helps you

      OP

      • "Covid19 is creating massive supply chain delays causing a rising price on PC Parts"

I'm banking on an oversupply of the market from this happening collectively with all distributors, and hoping to snag a deal when the back orders are flooding the market :-P

      • +3

Aussie dollar is back to only being 5-7% higher than the 12-month low, and will likely drop towards 2018 levels as America repeatedly beats itself over the head with stupid policy regarding covid-19.

The supply chain issue is merely a long term purchasing trend in AU that was exaggerated by the virus, and then you all tried to ramp your process to meet demand in literally the worst economic conditions in almost a century.

Congratulations that you're vaguely eating into your margins after you made a bad purchasing decision (as many in the PC retail sector did during the crpyto-boom), but this better be the first step in a long process of returning things to normal.

This entire GPU line-up is at 3 minutes to midnight, and you're likely to wind up with many disaffected customers when they realise their 10% discounted GPU has more than halved its value overnight. Do better.

        • +4

It's the cheapest 2060 super you can get. Umart barring the price error doesn't include delivery.

          • @Rauland: It's also the worst 2060 Super you can buy. Over in the US, despite everything that's happening there, you can pick up a genuinely better card for AUD $20 more on the daily.

That'll go through the floor soon enough.

            • +8

              @jasswolf: Hi Jasswolf,

Talking with one of our suppliers yesterday shows there are thousands of units on backorder with GPU manufactures only supplying Australia limited amounts, no matter the size of their order due to supply shortages, equating to a little under half of the required stock to fill backorders.

As suppliers like to keep the market competitive they will evenly distribute these units across different companies majority of the time.

The US is a prioritized market over Australia so manufactures will attempt to meet US supply before Australia's.

I also saw a comment mentioning the launch of next-gen cards.

Please be aware that due to covid19 and shortages of parts for GPUs and other PC Parts globally that the launch may go like 2080tis did (High prices, minimal stock)

Prices of PC parts aren't essentially governed by PC Storefronts or distributors.

If supply is stretched, manufactures will increase their prices to try to meet the demand.

Yes, we have personally seen some instances of suppliers price gouging in the industry but this still doesn't change the matter at hand here, high demand, closed factories for months, no inventory at manufactures or suppliers.

Until supply chains manage to catch up with demand, shipping providers charging "Covid" fees as logistics have increased and the complexity while we deal with new barriers that a pandemic has introduced; Seeing a sudden "halved value" is unlikely to happen unless Nvidia drops the price on GPU chips.

We're also starting to see a trend form of ETA times going from a few weeks to 1 month - 2 months and even in NZXT case one supplier reckons they won't see more stock until August-September further increasing prices on any stock that remains in Australia.

As mentioned above, the next Galax shipment is expected in late June - early July depending on the model. This will see card prices spike towards mid-June as stock at retailers drys up again. It's very easy to say that it's "merely a trend" but if demand doesn't peel off prices won't be recovering anytime soon though we've noticed DDR4 prices are recovering.

The only items that still have a decent flow are primarily RAM and Storage. This is one of the first times we've seen a distributor sold out of PSUs, Cases, Motherboards, Case Fans and GPUs. Not just one distributor though, a handful.

This is not supposed to be an attack, this is supposed to be informative to people who would like some industry insight to why you're seeing price spikes or 1-week fabulous deals and the next week the same item is sold out everywhere.

              OP

              • @CGB Solutions: To be clear, I'm not expecting retailers to halve card prices to clear, just that their value is odds-on to be decimated by the Ampere gaming line-up (at least from a DLSS-related perspective). NVIDIA clearly feels this way as well, as they've set up their chip sales to quickly shuffle things over to their mobile segment as they move their desktop Turing refresh options to EoL (including squeezing every last drop out of TU104 binnings).

The issue you're describing comes back to hows and whys of freight logistics as smaller operators in a competitive market with limited purchasing power compared the rest of the world.

The easiest answer to that is for an alliance between smaller retailers to streamline such logistics and unit costs, to narrow the range of brands and models purchased (i.e. mostly avoid the premium and extremely budget cards) in order to again reduce unit costs, and to be more prudent with advanced orders to secure solid pricing.

The fundamental issue here that I can see in the pricing is that perhaps there isn't enough product research being done by the industry as a whole in this country. One of the biggest examples of that right now is the monitor market, where some of the best value monitors in the world right now haven't even appeared on Australian shores: the Acer XF252Q, HP Omen X 27, and LG 27GL83A are some examples of this.

Putting aside that Acer and HP reps are probably some offshoot of the nuff nuffs that I can recall from 15-20 years ago, either product knowledge falls to the wayside of appealing to the ego of the average /r/pcmasterrace redditor, or the product knowledge of those finalising the order is at the level of said redditor.

Smarter purchasing decisions must be made, and many Australians need to be much more humble about not just our collective wealth and economic might in a time of less prolific international transit, but of our critical decision making as we are brutally reminded that we sit fairly high up atop a pyramid that closer resembles a house of cards than the Egyptian variety. In learning this lesson, retailers, distributors and local partners are no exception.

  • Fell off my chair yesterday when I saw a version of a 2060 going for $799. I don't care what O/C it has, not worth that much, this is much better nice work OP.

  • Hmmm I need to upgrade but can't decide, this or the Sapphire Pulse 5700XT for ~$680?

    • +3

Saphire pulse would be my pick its close to a 2070 Super

      • +1

How are the drivers compared to the 2060/70?

        • -1

To be honest with you nafe I've always preferred ATI and have listened to Nvidia fans complain about ATI drivers for years, personally I've had very few issues with ATI drivers, ever. I know there have been some issues noted with drivers for the 5700's though particularly the black screen issue but a lot of the feedback now tends to suggest most of that has been sorted. I'm not opposed to Nvida tho, have had a few of them over the years too with hardly any issues, just find ATI tends to handle multi monitors with different resolutions better than Nvida, from my experience anyway

        • +1

From what some of the reviewers have said it has improved but some mentioend they never had issues to begin with, i personally havent had issue's but my Raedeon card is OLD! R9 270 .. i was thinking of the 5700XT but yeh kept puttin it off and then covid thing happened with the job stuff and prices rising… now i think i'll just wait for next gen CPU's and Vid cards to come out and hopefully that brings this gens prices down (Gfx card wise) … hahaha at this rate im gonna be waiting forever i know…

          • @scud70: Cheers for the info. Waiting for tax refund and covid pricefalls before I start building my new rig hahaha :)
Still deciding on the video card….

            • @nafe: dont buy stupid amd ones wait for new Nvidia cards

              • @Freestyle: Ended up with a 2070 Super in the Dell G5 box on special atm.

                • @nafe: well if you built the whole thing now then good call

If you are gonna wait around to finish building the whole thing then a bit premature since we are probably getting new cards soon

                  • @Freestyle: Nah. The price on the Dell was going to be the same as what I was going to build (with similar spec). I took the easy option as it'll be higher spec than what I need and so should last me a while.

    • +3

If DLSS 2.0 is in cyberpunk 2077 I think the 2060S is more compelling. Non ray tracing AMD card resale is going to drop off a cliff after rDNA 2 and ampere

      • thats also a good point with DLSS :) .. wondering how the prices will get affected when new cards are released for this Gen ..

        • Im predicting a sharp fall for the 5700 series.

      • From what I'm seeing, every non-Ampere card is going to fall off a cliff. I don't think RDNA2 can compete on the raytracing side of things, let alone AI up-resolution.

        • That's why we have price protection lol

          • @mordinhoz: Price protection won't save you from that though unless you buy 6-9 months after launch.

            • @jasswolf: Which is what people would be doing if they bought this deal. I guess you pay the early adopter tax if you buy day one. Can't have it both ways.

              • @mordinhoz: Ah I see what you mean, but that's still not going to get you comparative value to Ampere.

                • @jasswolf: Yep. AMD have really shafted over their 5700 series buyers this gen.

    • 5700XT all the way. It's neck in neck with the 2070S performance wise. Most if not all the driver issues that were present in these cards have been fixed with the latest driver release.

  • I have just upgraded my monitor to 144hz and now i'm playing that game of chasing higher fps. Would this 2060 be much of an upgrade from a 1060 6gb?

    • +5

Tweak settings down from ultra, save your money for the 3060, which will likely come in under $500 at launch.

    • depends what resolution ur monitor is

  • +1

    Hi Lilchonk

You would see a 49% performance difference

Hi OP, any recommendations on a GPU mainly for video editing & media consumption (not gamming) via x1 34in & x1 29in ultrawide monitors, mainly after a card with multiple outputs in both DP & HDMI (USB-C might be a bonus for future proofing). Or would I be better off waiting on new release cards with new HDMI/HDCP & DP protocols?

    Thank you.

    • +3

      Hi Adinico,

I'll handball this one to OzBargain users.

I feel like I don't have the required knowledge to give you an informed decision for your needs.

      OP

    • +1

If gaming is a complete non-issue for you, I'd recommend the RTX 1650 Super (not the 1650 or the 1650 GDDR6), and then just find a model that has the outputs you're looking for. It has the latest NVENC hardware, and the latest driver updates from NVIDIA allow for 3 simultaneous encodes.

Adobe Premiere is getting NVENC support soon, and I'm pretty sure all the other major players already have it.

If you're planning on playing any modern games at all, I'd suggest waiting for the RTX 3000 series, and investing in the 3060 or 3070 when a sale roles up about a 4-8 weeks after launch.

  • Any deals for a Sapphire 5600xt or 5700xt? Been seeing much talk lately in ozbargain regarding these cards in lieu of the RTX

    • +1

      Hi Hotchoc,

Current prices for Sapphire are higher than retail. We definitely won't have any deals in the foreseeable future.

      OP

Good price for a 2060S considering the current pc landscape, purchased one thanks

When the expected shipment date from you guys

    • +1

Expected 1st shipment is this Wednesday,

The second one will be Friday,

      OP

      • Did the shipment arrive. I ordered but no despatch yet.

        • Same here, I ordered Monday and haven't seen any dispatch emails.

          • @neomoz: Purchased item Tuesday night and paid for guaranteed overnight delivery, the item was not posted until Friday and the company refused to refund the delivery costs even though delivery is supposed to be “guaranteed”. Due to the weekend the item will not arrive until Monday, this is far from what you expect when you purchase guaranteed overnight delivery early in the week.

            • @fikreterten: Hi there,

As stated to you via email that it's guaranteed overnight delivery,

Not guaranteed overnight delivery and dispatch

You agreed to the terms and condition before checking out

              OP

        • Hi there

          1/2 the orders have dispatched,

          Next half will dispatch Monday-Tuesday
