GM NOIR 707 English Willow Cricket Bat - $399 Delivered @ Sturdy Sports

20

Sturdy Sports has added this bat to their weekly Manager's special for $399. Free Knocking.

The same bat is retailing for $549.99 on another store.

When you buy a bat from the, you can get it match-ready for $25 only, while this service retails for around $100 normally across Australia.

I think this is a bargain and deserves to be on ozb.

Here's the link if you would like to see other products listed on their Weekly Manager's special page

Mods/Admin, I am still new to posting, please advise if I need to amend anything. I'd hate to be in breach of any terms & conditions.

Edit: Also added the link to their Weekly Manager's special.

    Ok

How much is a Gray Nick twin scoop?

  • +3

Price is ok. Mid range bats are pretty hit and miss to buy online without seeing. I feel that you need to hold it to get a good feel for the pickup etc. Bats from the same range can go up or down in classification when look at the actual grain quality. YMMV

I agree. So if you are in Melbourne, you can walk into the store and get your hands on one. Or visit other local cricket stores in your city, but chances are since they won't be able to beat this price, they might get you on to some other bat :)

    Man, bats are expensive now!

There’s always the old Kmart Kashmir.

    • @PCHammond you're not wrong!

I can only imagine my old man's response if I asked for a bat like this in the 70's.

GM 707 for $399 is very expensive, considering 707 is 6th grade down from their top of the range GM bats.

  • everyone loves to have a good quality bat every now and again

  • GM is a good brand if you're a LBW specialist, just ask Watto

Grade 2 for $400. Thanks but no.
I'll wait for the Kingsgrove sale.

    • +1

Yep, plenty of sales will come up.

Seems very high for grade 2 willow.

        Sure. Whatever suits you.

  • Think I'll keep the trusty Kookaburra bubble another year longer

Despite buying a few Gray Nic's, I still can't go past my SS Jumbo, which cost @ $160 in 1985.

Thank you OP for at least posting something different ( and not made in (Chaina)[https://www.reddit.com/r/crappyoffbrands/comments/8lwjpp/this_baseball_is_made_in_chaina/])

Nice bat. Would consider if I was still playing. Made most of my runs with a GM!

A bat this expensive shouldn’t need knocking

    • +1

ALL bats NEED knocking in even if pre knocked. Should first be used in nets for ~15 overs then in matches.

      • Only if you hit the ball out of the middle. My bat from my teen years was 90% cherries on the edges, if it was left soft the umpire was less likely to hear it.

        • But also higher chance of damaging the bat.

If yall are looking for a great bat, i HIGHLY reccomend the Gray Niccols Powerspot sold at Kingsgrove sports. It costs about $220 and they usually give 5% off if you ask nicely. You can usually find one with great number of good grains and its has a VERY nice middle and a light swing.
