FYI, shipping to Perth metro is free (many eastern based offices don't consider Perth as "metro").
Op, you should correct your price in title, $249 not $149?

    • Sign up for a free account and it comes down to $149

And yes it was free shipping to Perth

      • I realised that soon after, but when I updated my comment, this thread was closed! And now it's back :-) But $149 is good value taking into account shipping this size.

    • at $149 its worth a punt, $249 for refurb is a bit… eh

      • You can grab the new model at $249, the refurb is $149 when you login

        • +4

Yeah what a weird thing. But still $199 for a 43" smart tv… $149 for a 40" smart tv… I get that its a refurb but it does come with 1yr… very much worth a go at $149.

I wouldnt pay 33% more for 3 more inches… (LOL… not in this case anyway)

Might put this on my toilet door.

    • Boasting about how big your toilet door is?

      • +27

You got me lol I don't own a toilet

        • +2

          Sounds like a shit situation.

  • smart TV without Netflix?!

    • Just use a Nvidia Shield, Apple TV, Telstra TV, Vodafone TV, Xbox One, PS4 etc.

      • +10

Shield costs more than the TV :-)

        • +1

Vodafone TV being $72 is around half the price of this TV. But it is better than what is in most smart Televisions.

      • +1

I mean a Chromecast is a cheap solution, maybe not a flawless one but I take it at this price you’re wanting it on the cheap.

    • The smart TV incorporates an operating system/platform that allows you to access, manage, and view online and network-based media content without the need to connect to an additional box (such as a Roku or Fire Stick).

However, I believe you may have access to netflix via web browser (according to its manual)

      • +2

Much better running a cheap Android TV box than what would be on that TV.

  • Thanks OP, Grabbed one, decent sized cheap TV at $149

unidays 10%off, got it for $134.1

Can this be used as a monitor?

    • It has VGA and HDMI connections, so it can be connected to most computers.
However the quality of screen won't match the monitors.
      Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080
      Refresh Rate 50-60Hz

    • Yes

    • It will work but it has some drawbacks.
Low pixel density, 40” at FHD doesn’t look good. It works as a TV because it’s supposed to be far away. However it’s on a desk right in front of you it won’t look great.
Input lag, when displaying a movie it doesn’t matter, but for moving a mouse, it may be noticeable
Slow response time if gaming on it you’ll likely see ghosting

  • Did anyone get the $10 coupon, I subscribed but didnt get the email.

  • +1

40" shows up as out of stock

    • wow that was quick. lessee how long the 43 takes. Take it before I get one.

      • Given they were refurbished, they probably only had a handful of units.

  • Anyone know if this has WiFi?

  • I am sorry. 40" is out of stock now
43" is available at this moment

    • 43 doesnt show as 199 for me ? says 399

      • Have you became member first? It is still available to my browser..

  • 43 inch showing for $359

  • 43” ordered. Thank you OP.

  • +3

This 55" UHD for $359 also seems decent, but looks like $50 postage to my area (3125).

    • What’s the 32inch come down to?

    • +1

Thanks OP and Celtic…..went with this 55 inch.

  • Purchased the 43 inch refurb the other month. Will do the job in the bedroom.

The good - Lightweight 7.8KG, 78 watts, digital tv picture quite good, 2 USB ports and can plug in say Bluetooth keyboard/mouse or can power up a Chromecast.

The bad - Android is outdated, can't upgrade Google's services to run netflix because not enough storage. No optical out. Below average speakers. Small remote with no numbers button. Slow to boot when turning on.

  • Hows this one

N50" 4K UHD Google Chromecast (Refurbished)

    $329 free Metro Delivery….

    • Showing $549 for me

      • Just got this one with a unidays discount came to 299 with free delivery. Probably the best buy on this page given its a 2018 model with chromecast installed. Cheers for pointing it out Sydchamp

    • Got one of these, thanks for sharing :) Shopping for a TV has been hard, I see good deals on $1000+ models often but my partner and I just don't have the budget for it (students/part-timers). Just need it to stream SD Netflix and play Mario Kart on really, at $300 (unidays discount, thanks @Bigredkeg for pointing that out) with warranty this seemed like the go. Edit: Will come back here eventually to report on the good and inevitably shitty aspects of it ha.

    • I just received this and thought it would be worth sharing that the TV was broken on arrival. The top of the panel was split from the TV frame. Trying to sort out a return and refund with Soniq now.

      https://imgur.com/a/thNaxIT

      • Mine had a portion of the screen popping out upon arrival on the 27th too, not nearly as bad as your pic tho Celtic (about 10cm towards the top right was out by a couple mm). I just ran my fingernail under the lip, starting from where the screen was in place, across the popped out portion and it clicked back in.

So far so good with the telly otherwise, will post more thoughts after more usage in my comment above.

      • I have a similar problem where the bezel is coming away and there is a white line at the top of the screen where the backlight is shining through the gap.

        @celticdownunder

How did you go with your return? I emailed them 1 hour after it arrived yesterday, and no response yet. Annoying that their only contact number leads to an IVR which reads out their email addresses for contact.

        • The return process has been smooth so far. TNT came to pick it up on Monday and Soniq said they will refund once they receive it.
I contacted them through their online form, not direct email and they responded reasonably fast, was on the same day I contacted them.

  • :( missed out

  • They are refurbished, so they were most probably returned, so they might contain dead pixels and have bad gray uniformity.

just waiting on another 300 sub dollar linsar 50 inch deal, seems like there is a shit ton of deals when you arent looking for a tv, but when you are ready tobuy one there is no deals at all

    • Same feelings. Now waiting for the EOFY deals.

  • I got one of these (prev model I suppose) last refurb deal. The sound is tinny due to the tiny speakers, a problem with cheap TVs. Connected my Bose Soundlink Mini to it, plugged into the USB for recharging. Fixed the sound. But the video quality is terrible. Start it up and you can see the light bleed through the blacks at the sides. The video is muddy, a little pixelated and big steps in colour gradations like a highly compressed video file. from a distance it is OK, across the room. I should have kept the dollars in my pocket.

No respect for this China made brand anymore..Shame on you General Manager Song Su for selling overpriced, medical masks from china, with non Australian compliance or certification to Australians at a time of Crisis! Another one cashing in on the situation!

    Can disappear!

None of your links really points to anything related to your claim?

How do you know those masks aren't compliant or up to standard? The pricing is ridiculous though.

      Edit: I'm no soniq fan.

      • -4

        Either am I now! haha

No respect for this company at all. Magically this Soniq Digital starts to promote and sell masks. (No Aus Standard Codes) Joke of company. Simply I Do not support this deal!

    • +1

For your negative information because of Soniq is selling over priced *medical masks (!!!) while we are talking about their televisions

There are thousands of TV brands in the world, there are only a few manufacturers of LCD panels, which are the core component inside any TV. No matter which brand of TV you buy, the panel is made by one of the major manufacturers in China. For instance, Kogan use LG and Samsung LCD panels in some Kogan TVs. A Sony TV is likely to use a panel made by Samsung or A Bang & Olufsen TV is likely to use a panel made by Sharp.

This TV could be produced here in Australia like most of our electronics, textile and furniture but you wouldn't buy it because of 3x or 4x of price tag.

You probably against many other things but produce nothing and only winging here

As you shared "Mens and Womens - NIKE Flex Experience RN Shoes - Delivered @ Kogan previously (Dec2019) that Nike stated Kogan is not one of their authorized Nike retailers
Further more Nike shoes are also produced mostly in China as well, and most Kogan products originated from China.

    • +1

@RWONG Nothing checks out in your links. I don't suggest that you are any more 'WRONG' than right though, what you say could well be true.

      Can you provide better info?

I clicked because it is obvious to us all that the cheap branded TVs are the ones most commonly sold as 'refurbished'. Now this is clearly because they take the faulty ones back and fix them (a good thing) and offload them cheap (another good thing).

A bigger brand OTOH doesn't want its brand damaged, so sells repacks and rebrands more quietly. This may be because they have less faulty ones, or a larger dealer network that can absorb them, or maybe because they have enough scale to return faulty ones to Asia (where they are fixed and on-sold into other markets, or are factory re-packed and then resold as new).

Not sure why there are so many Soniqs out there (they are one of the largest low-end brands though). It really would be good for OzBargainers to know why there are sooooo many refurbs from brands like Soniq in this market.
