Recommendations for a ~ $200 Android Smartphone (Perhaps Something Currently on Sale?)

Any recommendations for an Android smartphone that is around (but preferably less than) $200? Using it purely as a second phone for work. Will pop a prepaid sim into it. Was considering the Samsung A20, but some of the comments on the forum have put me off. Would also consider refurbished if I could obtain it from a reputable place. Would ideally like if it could run Android One too.

    • Thanks, but comments regarding this phone throughout the ozbargain forum have put me off.

Also how does the network unlock work? i.e. is it guaranteed to work? If the phone is updated to Android One will it still be network unlocked?

      • You can follow the instructions in this deal to unlock the phone, I like many others have done it easily https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/517260

The comments on this phone are generally very positive, some have mentioned problems with the GPS which seem to have been resolved.

        • I am a little confused by the "unlock"…do you buy the software or just download it?

      • There are also posts on how to speed animations up, it is what feels most unresponsive!
At the end of the day, it's a $200 phone, it's not going to perform like a flagship!

Are you attaching a signature at the end of your comments, or actually typing it?

  • Realme c3 on Optus is coming out under $200. Worth a look.

  • TCL Plex. Solid phone!

  • Samsung A20 is good. Screen is "ok". 720p is meh. GPS is terrible. There are fixes for the GPS but imho with 2x family member phones, the issues always return.

I'd recommend the Note 8T for just over $220. 1080p. GPS works great. More "premium" feel.

    • Is there anywhere to get it locally for the same price? I was hoping to get it today/tomorrow.
