IMO not really a deal if it is available only to Vodafone employees.

    • +4

Should be available to all people with access to EPP

      • -3

        Requires vodafone email.

        • +1

Nope, I can access it and I don't work for Vodafone.

        • That link requires a Vodafone address, but other portals will also work.

  • someone get me one

    • PM me if you are interested

  • It was similar price on Harvey Norman few days ago.

  • I can see nadda

  • Only slightly cheaper than a 55 OLED on sale.

    • -6

Totally. That RRP is stupid and no Samsung TV is as good as any OLED. An OLED from t years ago is better than the latest Samsung flagship.

      • +2

Woah, you must really hate quantum dots.

        • Personally I hardly see the difference between normal LED and QLED. OLED is a whole different league though. But admittedly OLED is not as good in a brightly lit room.

          • @Make it so: OLED's blacks are better for sure, the only reason I wouldn't go OLED is due to potential screenburn, plus I think the response time on QLED is a bit better too.

            • -2

@teatime: Lol, I'm pretty sure you won't find a single person on this site that has suffered from screen burn. I am not in the least bit worried about it with mine.

              • @C0mbat: My LG B755 OLED suffered from severe burn in at about 2 years old and about 4000 hours on it. The FTA channel 7 morning bottom banner burnt in quite badly. It was out of warranty by about a year and LG were great and replaced the panel at no charge. The picture on the TV is great, LG support was fantastic, however Im only writing this as burn in in the B7s definitely occurred. I would love a CX 65 as the picture quality is great and im hopeful that the problem has been addressed.

@ern123: That's what you get for watching Sunrise.

                  • @PinzVidz: True, I’m blaming the wife which is also true. Before i go to bed know reduce the OLED light settings so it hopefully prevents the problem then later in the day change the picture mode to basically the RATINGs settings to watch my programmes…Repeat,Repeat

          • @Make it so: Going from LCD to OLED, my OLED is far brighter than my 5 year old LCD (LED). Also if you can't see the difference at night or in low light, you may need glasses.

            • @onlinepred: Some expensive LCD's go much brighter than OLED. And OLED reflects. I did not say I can't see the difference at night. I much prefer OLED myself, especially as I hate motion blur.

              • @Make it so: Yes, very recent expensive LCD's can go brighter. I was just pointing out that current gen OLED is brighter than older gen LCD, so many people will be using their 2 year old + lcd's thinking OLED won't be as bright, or worried that OLED isn't bright enough etc. My LG c9 reflects light less than my series 7 sammy.

Q80R is on par with the Q90T for features, except for eARC which is on the T series. Same local dimming performance, but the newer Q90T is brighter with HDR, while the Q80R is brighter on regular TV.

Side by side, they'd be near identical except for motion processing changes and menus (smart things off-white vs dark on the T), latency is better on the Q90T, but it's 14.7ms vs 10ms which is just over/under a frame at 60hz between models. Both have VRR for next gen consoles, ALLM and 4K @ 120Hz.

The Q90R beats both visually, but it also has One Connect and more local dimming zones for a much brighter, by 5-30% SDR and HDR peak, and something else, but I can't recall for daytime viewing improvement.

You'd be hard pressed to find the Q90R though, as it is the strongest 4k QLED for the performance. They were also more expensive than the Sony A9G OLEDs at one point.

It doesn't / shouldn't compete with OLED, but it's close, the Q90R is just vivid and over saturated when you put them side by side, and the noise / gradation of colour on the QLED is noisy with rough texture like skin tones and water.

At seated distances, it would be more impressive on the Q80R or Q90R due to brightness and vivid SDR colour. This is probably as good a bargain as the Z9F clearances which didn't last long

    • +2

Sounds impressive, but QLED is just a backlit LCD with a Qunatum dot filter in front.

    • Very little difference between Q80R and Q90R. Not worth the extra $$ for the Q90 imo.

  • Any price for Q80 75"

    • +1

      Q80T 75" is $3,936.75, only 55" in Q80R.

  • +1

Why would we make comparisons with ‘R’ series when they are discontinued and nowhere to be found?

  • One major difference between Q80T and Q90T models is Q90T comes with one connect box.

  • Shows same price but out of stock at education store.

  • Bummer, I'd really like a Frame at that price but I can't access it. I thought my edumail account might count as government but apparently not :(

If anyone can tell me another way I could get this deal or very similar price please let me know.

    • My Edu was showing both the frame and serif at the above prices. They're out of stock now though, but I think you were looking at 2020 model. 2020 model was $1750ish for 55". 2019 version was $1250.

    • The 2020 Frame tv 55 inch is $1,494.35 on my EPP. PM me if you wanna buy it

  • Frame seems to be sold out

  • Is the Q80r still available here? Just wondering what people are getting for the q80t… I'm currently looking to upgrade my 6year old Samsung which I love and I've missed the r series by a whisker it seems, reading about the T not really enthused given the price tag and lowering of some features… Thinking the q80t for $2195 currently?

  • For anyone that was or still interested in the 55" q80t, I bought it from Harvey Norman for $1890 bucks, by pricematching 13it online.. Guy in store (was against online orders!) said he would have done it for $1850, but it's easier said after the fact than trying to haggle them down. I have a xbox one x and I am in awe.. Spent last night watching NRL through Kayo, which looks marvelous and on youtube watching 4k HDR… Some of the most incredible stuff my eyes have seen.. Highly recommend this tv, only thing I didn't like it not having is dolby vision but it's very hard to have everything.. I know others do quantum dot screens but I'm blown away and so happy with my choice to stick by Samsung (my last 4 tv's have been)

  • I'm buying the Q70T for cheap next week at The Good Guys.

    • +1

Q70T has a lot of problems, try to search it on Google. Try to get Q80T instead.
