Warning: The Sonos One SL in this deal lacks microphones and therefore lacks smart-assistant capability.

Also worth trying to stack with $10 off $39 Spend First Time Amazon App Eligible Items

Notes: according to another user, if you are using the Sonos One’s as rear speakers in a surround setup, they forego the smart-assistant capability anyway, so better to save your money and get the Sonos One SL’s.

  • Brilliant sound - get rich, room-filling sound with the Sonos One SL, and control it with the Sonos app, Apple Airplay 2, and more.
  • The compact design fits just about anywhere. Put it on your kitchen countertop or tuck it away on your office bookshelf. It's humidity resistant so you can even put it in the bathroom.
  • Apple Airplay 2 - Stream sound directly from your iPhone or iPad and ask Siri to play Apple Music.
  • Stereo sound with two - Pair with Sonos One or another One SL for stereo separation and more detailed sound. Use a pair as rear home theatre surrounds with Playbar, Playbase, or Beam.
  • Build your system - Easily connect Sonos speakers in different rooms over Wi-Fi to create a home sound system that brings every room and everyone together.

No microphone? Sounds like a bonus.

My understanding aas that the microphones stay active, unless paired with the sonos beam???

Im looking to but 2x ones and pair with my playbar…… I want it to then be smart

Hope someone can verify with experience

I have a Playbar. Bought 2 Sonos One to add AirPlay 2 and assistant to my surround system. Didn’t work, so I returned the Sonos One and kept my Sonos 1. They basically work as “slave” speakers and will do whatever your main speaker (i.e. Playbar) can do.

      • Cool thanks, thats unfortunate.

I done some digging on this, prior to your comment, I was under the understanding that if the main unit (playbar) is not smart, then the features remain

Though if the main unit is smart, then it disables the mics on the slave units, as it only uses the main units mic to keep the functionality

This was all from the sonos forum

Edit: added link https://en.community.sonos.com/setting-up-sonos-228990/sonos… note comment from melvimbe

It looks like airplay 2 will not work with the playbar, though alexa assistant will still work

Looks like we might all be right….. as you are looking for airplay 2 (doesnt work), all im after is alexa (works)

Happy to be wrong if others experienced my desired outcome

As far as I am concerned, as written in the comment by autocader, when you pair your Sonos One’s with a Playbar / Beam in a surround setup, the Sonos One’s become ‘slave’ speakers and therefore only play audio and lose their ‘smart’ ability.

      • Sounds like we have different concerns…..
Im not shitting on your deal, i think its good. just interested in that comment, as thats the setup im after.

It sounds like alexa could still work with the playbar (not beam), just airplay 2 wont

        Cheers

I previously set up my Playbar with 2 Sonos Ones in a surround setup and could still use Alexa. This was before Airplay 2 was rolled out and I don't really use Airplay 2 too much anyway. Unless they have changed things in a recent update, I would prefer having the flexibility of moving my speakers around.

But if you're certain you won't use the smart-assistant, you can save some money.

          • @kevjutsu: Awesome, great to hear! I might push with the same setup

I wont use apple play so Im good with that

            Cheers!

I adpoted this problem by buying the king furniture king cloud 3 with sonos mounts, in the recent ozbargain deal

            Thanks OP and all

Im not shitting on your deal,

No worries. I am fine with your comment it is good to hear more user experience to make sure something is correct.

  • A user suggested just getting the IKEA Symphonisk if you’re using them as rears. Cheaper and comparable sound?

    • Ikea’s have a bit less oompf/fullness to them apparently from reviews, but yep would do the trick I reckon if not fussy and wanna save some bucks. For bass: one > lamp > bookshelf

      • The Ikea ones seem to have the same drivers however the cabinet affects the responsiveness and therefore don’t sound as good

I suppose looks come into this too and have to be happy with how it all appears

        • Where did you get this info about them having the same drivers?

  • Is this deal eligible with recent Amazon cashback (Shopback)?
