Audi Q5 Sport Vs BMW X3 xDrive 20D VS Mazda CX9 Azami

Hi Guys, help me please. Trying to decide between Q5,X3 and CX-9(I know it is a diffrent segment car).

I am trying to convince the Mrs for Mazda but she is adamant to get a German car. I guess I have lost that battle, but will give it one last try. So throwing CX-9 in the mix still.

Family of 3. Will just own 1 car, if buying Q5 or X3. But will keep the existing, if buying Mazda CX-9. Use existing for grocery trips and keep the CX-9 for longer trips.

May need 6 seats but very rarely.
We both work in city and go to work together but 2 cars gives a little bit of extra flexibility in case needed.

Still newbie to forum so please be gentle.

Q5-5 year free servicing. 5Y warranty around 75K. New. TDI sport.
CX9 -4 year free servicing.5Y warranty. around 66K. New. Azami.
X3-Haven't been to dealership yet.

NOTE- Bought X3 30D. Demo Nov-19. For 75K.

Thanks for the input guys. The 3L diesel was a breeze to drive. Loved it straight away. 5 year servicing included. And some packages too.

Waiting for this SUV discussion to be taken over by the 4x4 off-road crew advising the OP how silly he would be to not buy a LandCruiser, which can jump off cliffs and all the other boring stories that go along with it.

  • Don't buy European cars, very unreliable.

Source: Lived in EU for 30 years and had shitloads of German & French cars.

    • Too late mate. Bought one already 😊. Updated the topic with details.

        Good on you mate.

        Have fun!

      • Curious as to what the votes tallied up to vs the BMW,Mazda & Audi? I can only see my vote for whatever reason.

        • Even I can't see it. I selected to keep anonymous(newb's error) and changed it later but I must be missing something still.

        • Probably would have had very little influence on the outcome of the buying decision anyhow given that loads of comments were advising against the German cars. Looks like the mind was set for a German car.

French cars and reliability does not go together.

      • He did also write about German cars being also bad.

Somebody said Kia Sorento. The tech you will get with that is 10 years ahead of what Mazda has to offer. Comparable to class leading Audi.

    • A) the Audi isn't class leading

      B) The Kia does not have tech 10 years ahead of anyone.

OP you made the right choice with the X3 3.0D, good car, great price. Strong performance too with that engine. The only mistake you made was asking car advice on Ozbargain, because most people on here have no idea whatsoever. But driving the cars yourself sealed the decision and you chose the best car.

    • Thanks mate. Appreciate your opinion and yes that 3L engine was amazing to drive. And couldn't anything in this price all across Australia.

    Congrats on the X3.

Please google DPF maintenance and clogging and follow the suggestions, the only pitfall of diesels.

BMW have announced that from July all vehicles with idrive7 will have andriod auto… about freaking time

  • July?

  • OP I wonder if you have heard of JD Power dependability studies.

    • I hadn't until now. Firstly it is too late now and secondly this may not have influenced anyway. Skoda and Volvo was out of question.

  • Get the Porsche Macan.

    • Very expensive to maintain and sensors keep breaking
