Cheapest I could find it, price only for silver.

Purchased via OW PB through their phone line.
In my opinion, best feature about the Ultra is the look. If you aren't really concerned with this and don't need the WD softwares and backup interfaces, just get the much cheaper Elements.

5TB version for $187.79. Probably not USB-C though

    • Believe that is the non ultra version. Again only purchase the ultra if you want the looks, otherwise there are cheaper options

  • Why does this even have USB C.

    • Actually one of the features I was looking for.

  • I purchased one of these recently, do appreciate the type C.

I'd love to rid myself of everything not using it.

  • Obligatory question: is it shuckable?

    • Don't believe any recent WD portable is.

      Seagate often are.

  • Anyone know of any 3tb portable hdd for $99 or less? The OW ones are out of stock.

  • SMR drive inside?

    • Not the new Ultra version.

But what's so Ultra about the Ultra version any way. Both that older My Passport drive and the new My Passport Ultra has password protection. Sure you don't get USB-C but you can get USB 3.0 to USB-C adaptors quite cheap. And not as if a 2.5" mechanical hard drive is going to any where near to saturating USB 3.0 speed let alone USB-C.

So for quickly looking at it as far as i can tell the only difference is the drive appearance and the interface connector differences. But as i said it's quite easy to get a USB 3.0 to USB-C adaptor cheap enough.

  • Why does it show $195.56 instead of $187.07?

    • Because the price has gone up.
