Bring on the comments, that's all I'm here for.

      Here's the most important comment:

This product is toxic to aquatic life.

      DO NOT BUY.

EDIT: Can't see the warning on the label. Have they changed the formula to be non-toxic?

      • Would be nice to know

Poo-Pourri is excellent stuff and environmentally friendly, not available cheap here though. Would have to make your own spray I would think, likely just some essential oils mostly.

I did some research. The way I understand the MSDS for this product is 0.7ml per litre kills 50% of exposed fish and will do so for up to three days

55ml / 100 uses (as written on the label) = 0.55ml per flush
0.55ml per 5L poo flush on a dual flush toilet = 0.11ml per litre <— this is how much goes into the environment, sans whatever effect wastewater treatment etc has

It's not as high as I was expecting but the benchmark is 50% dead fish for 0.7mL/L.. so 0.11mL/L likely still means dead fish, just less of them. And 20g/kg is enough to kill a rat (skin contact or oral, doesn't matter), that's pretty scary! The most important question is why flush anything toxic down the loo daily?

Keep in mind I'm no expert and may be interpreting incorrectly, etc.

          • @justtoreply: How about making actual research on what Propylene Glycol actually is, and how is it used and removed in sewage treatment plans (where VIPoo ends up along with your own poo), rather than making alarmist claptrap?

Propylene Glycol used here is substantially less toxic than Ethylene Glycol that was used in the old days (mostly for antifreeze products). It is used widely in chemical products and is generally considered safe. Many other things we regularly use would kill live beings, that's why we treat our waste waters rather than dumping it all into nature to kill the fishes.

This substance is even used in some breath fresheners - but don't take that as an idea to inhale VIPoo. ;)

            • @Jef Tino: I started as a firm no, then proved it wasn't as bad as I thought.. yet somehow you're having a go where I've corrected myself? I did mention wastewater treatment, but that is probably research that would not be fruitful - I went back to work instead.

You can nit pick all you like, my outcome remains true.. why would you put something toxic in the water? Or your mouth. Crazy.

          • @justtoreply: I realised there's an error in here. I've assumed the product is 100% Proplyene-Glycol, which it won't be.

I still wouldn't be putting anything toxic down the drain if I didn't have to.

  • They have other fragrances as well. This stuff is good shit. It also hides the smell after a good shit.

  • FYI It's often in sale at the supermarket for a similar price.

    • That means is have to go outside. Are you crazy?!?!?

  • that's poopfect! oh I mean poorfect… oh wait I meant perfect

  • This should go well with the recent TP-pandemic that happened..

This product should not exist, if you buy this you are a terrible person.

    • Why?

The mental torture inflicted by viewing their TV ad is reason enough, even if you think the idea of pouring poison down the drain because your sh1t inevitably stinks is somehow sound.

What a time to be alive, when some marketing dipshit has convinced people to be so embarrassed by pooping they need to spend money to fix it.

      I take the BeyBlade approach…

What's wrong with lighting a match?

  • this is the stupidest product, i remember back in the day my uni lecturer played the TV ad for everyone to watch.

    • Stupidest because it makes millions of dollars instead of billions?

You could achieve a similar effect by spraying-in an essential oil mix (DIY or store bought).

Oil creates a film, to trap odours in the bowl.

You could also buy a can of Bosito's Eucalyptus spray, which I use for hygiene/odour control in the bathroom.

it's easy, just pay 50 cents for a match box. Light one up, burn it for a sec, then quickly put out the fire and the remaining smoke will clear all the odors.

  • wow $86/litre

I'm a woman in my early 40s, but no worries!

(Also not the only one to suggest a match, just saying…)
