It was a birthday gift, so I didn’t have much choice, but I’ve wanted one for a while. They’re what my local American BBQ place recommended in their cooking classes.
Best entry level is a second hand kettle off FB marketplace or whatever. Go the kamado type later on. Also I think some of the akorns are just double walled metal and not ceramic like tradition kamados.
Yes Akron is triple walled metal. But it’s quite good for the price and lighter weight and less fragile than the ceramic ones.
I think I will go with a 2nd hand Weber kettle to learn on. Problem is finding a good one on marketplace.
@bashar20: Just set some notifications and watched searches. I've been out of the kettle trading game for a while, but I assume (hope) it's died down and people can actually flog stuff off for cheap without the collectors hoarding them in their garages for photos.
