Seems like the sale finishes on 20th June (I picked them up today). From previous experience they are decent quality considering the price.

Note: Although the name of the items include Heavy Duty (generally referred to inferior Carbon-Zinc) - they are in fact Alkaline batteries.

  • What’s the quality of these like comparable to Energiser and Duracell?

    • +3

From my experience they are very decent considering the current price (I haven't used Duracell or Energizer recently)

        Thanks. Grabbed some!

Very decent batteries for the price. Obviously not top end but definitely worth the price.

Have a heap of Eneloops here for the good stuff, but use these on kids toys and things like fairy lights in some of the kids rooms.
I have no complaints about them and will be grabbing more at this price.
    Thanks for the heads up.

    • Eneloops for high drain items and these or similar for low drain e.g. remote controls, door bells etc.

I always "try" to check for leaks etc every couple of months and these seem to hold up okay. Brand is no guarantee of leaking sadly - I had a bad batch of Duracell 9V batteries that leaked badly.

      • Nothing worse than battery leaks in remotes etc. Stuffs up the remote circuit board and the furniture.

  • Given the feedback, I've grabbed one set of each, for kids toys and the like.

Cheers op one of each for the kids toys

Cheers OP, bought 2 packs of each. We have a newborn so we go through batteries quite quickly.. We had no idea we needed to set aside a battery budget because nearly everything takes batteries…

I had an Energizer AA make Grudge sounds from the clock it was in. Took me a while to track down where/what it was.

    Spooky stuff!

  • Any eneloops on sale?

  • +2

I've stopped using such kind of batteries since years ago. All replaced by Eneloop. Your convenience for a moment is at a enormous cost of earth's environment.

    • I have my Enloop collections still mostly in mint condition (in original packaging).

To me Enloops are collectables :)

      Edit: I didn't neg you

People will cry a lot on social media about earth and equality but when it comes to actually doing stuff they DO NOTHING. Maybe go protest with their friends in their day off or for fun and that’s about it.

      I’m tired of people’s hypocrisy

Well wouldn't using rechargeables instead of disposables be considered doing something?

    • Assuming your using a phone or computer to access this. Do you replace those often?
They are made to last a very short time and constantly need replacing. Interested. No knock.

      • If you're replacing your phones or computers anywhere near as much as disposable batteries, you're doing something wrong

Who thought it would be a good idea to put "Heavy Duty" and "Alkaline" all in the product title. Makes them sound crapper than they probably area.

    • +3

Lol. Most people don’t realise that the term “Heavy Duty” on batteries implies they are Carbon-Zinc rubbish. And therefore a waste of a money and resources.

Anyway, I’m happy to upvote this given the batteries are in-fact Alkaline unlike other similar deals, and it does substantially beat the Varta packs sold at Bunnings.

      • Yep.
I initially went right past this deal because of the "heavy duty"…

        • I was about to flame this deal due to "heavy duty" lol

  • +3

Are these actually better than Varta from bunnings?

    • +1

Also keen to hear people's opinion on this

    • +1

In the absence of anyone providing some analytics, I will just say that they are around 25% cheaper than Varta.
