  • I think the cheapest price showing on camel camel was likely a price error.
That would make this the cheapest price ever on amazon. Has been cheaper on ebay.

    • +1

      Isn't this the cheapest?

      • Yeah just noticed that.
Not sure why it doesn't show up on camel camel considering the links are the same.

        • +1

3 Camels doesn't track continuosly. It often misses steep drops. May be due to noone placing a tracking request on that day, so it doesn't fetch the latest price. Or some other reason.

I want to commit but not sure about there being no sub out… anyone with this model can review?

    • How much is the cheapest decent individual sub anyway? Aren't you looking at like $300

    • +1

Bought it just recently. Even though it is only a 2.0 but it produces decent sub (for this price range).

      • cheers thanks, that made me feel better about purchasing something 30min after waking up today.

        • +3

I got it from the last deal, and honestly for a 2.0 and the given price, the sound quality is 100% punching above it's weight. It has decent bass without an external sub

  • Got it, thanks OP. I'm still weighing between this and the 1280DB but I'll just return it if I don't like it.

  • Tossing up between the 1280DB, this and the R1850DB. Mostly using for PC gaming and Youtube, won't be listening to music often on these.

Currently using Harman Kardon Soundsticks II which sound good for the size, but want something a bit better. Any recommendations? Is it possible to wall mount these?

    Thanks in advance!

    • +1

Between the R1700BT and the R1850DB I say the difference is negligible. You are paying extra for the sub out and the god awful glossy finish if you are into that.

      • That's the general consensus I've been reading. Thanks for the tip, will go for the R1700BT.

You are 100% right about the horrible glossy finish, would not suit my desk at all.

      • +1

How about between the R1700BT and the R2000?

      Check these out

      https://youtu.be/ApdsaDkvoj8 (1280 vs 1700)
      https://youtu.be/QVJqHX7pHBg (1700 vs 1850)

As @Noire said the difference between 1700 and 1850 is almost just the input (extra fiber in on 1850), so why pay more unless you absolutely need the feature.

  • +2

    I'll buy it, why not.

The OB spirit is strong with this one

  • Can these be used as rear speakers in a home theater setup ?

    • If you don't care about timbre matching, sure.

Just make sure your amp has line level output for the rears, which I don't think I've seen on an avr.

      • +10

But I guess it's OK if your other speakers are in Walnut finish also?

        • +2

Lol I don't think that's what he means by timbre matching.

  • This is not suitable for music, especially for bass heavy tracks. Can't really expect more at this price though….

    • What would you recommend besides these? Only curious because I got these and I find it great (though I am no audiophile). However, if there is something better at approximate price range, I'd love to upgrade!

      • As I said, you can't expect more at this price range.
I personally can't listen to music on these, the s2000pro and s3000pro are considered excellent value and very good for music, but obviously more expensive.
You can get a second hand q acoustics 3020 and cheap amp for around 250

        • Thanks for letting me know and completely understand the sentiment that the price range won't net anything super high quality.

The q acoustics looks good though, I'll do some research and figure it out Cheers!

        • any recommendations for amps?

      • Try the creative gigaworks series.

Amazing that people downvoted me without even stating why.

      • +5

Saying "This is not suitable for music, especially for bass heavy tracks" as fact seems pretty obnoxious. You may not enjoy them for music, but based on a number of reviews they seem to be enjoyed by a great many people.

It's just not a helpful comment at all. (I didn't downvote you btw, just noting why others may have)

      • I didn’t downvote, but so many speakers and headphones have bloated bass these days, that it’s starting to get exhausting to find ones with a neutral sound signature.

Everyone has been conditioned by Beats headphones to expect bass to dominate the sound signature, overwhelming the midrange. So, if you prefer music with tight, controlled bass, you instinctively react against anyone who says “not enough bass”. Everything has too much bass these days.

But personally, I haven’t heard these, and maybe they really are tinny and anaemic. I wouldn’t downvote without auditioning them first to see if I agree.

I ordered some, they arrived this morning (super quick!)

I've been listening to a bunch of my music on them while working today and I love them. For their size and price they sound awesome. They don't extend down as far bass wise as a setup with a dedicated sub woofer, or large floor standing speakers, but for their size they are very full sounding.

And they have great detail and clarity to their overall sound as well. I can see why so many people like the Edifier speakers.

For a powered set of speakers with Bluetooth, it's really hard to not be impressed with these at this price!

    • Wait what do you mean not suitable for music? I just ordered a pair of these.

      • Relax, if you don't have picky ears they will do fine. If you don't like them you can always return them with Amazon prime

        • I do want them to sound good. They don't need to be loud, but I want them to sound good for movies and games.

        • They arrived and they sound fine for music at your PC.

I disagree. Im an ex Sound Engineer and a budget Audiophile. I recently purchased the R1850db for $189 after extensive research (as much as lock down allows). I use them for near-field listening (Computer Speakers) and the R1850db are the equivalent to speakers more that twice their price. These produce solid bass at sub 50hz. I have yet to use them to fill a room, but at low and moderate listening levels, these are an excellent speaker.

      • This was about r1700bt, I have not heard the r1850db, but I believe they are similar

    not TWB.

      What is TWB?

Teeny Weeny Bladder. I Googled it. You're welcome.

        True Wireless Bluetooth

        • Where does it claim to be?

        • Explain please?

Are you expecting proper bookshelf speakers with Bluetooth to be battery powered?

  • Purchased. Thank you.

  • I just bought the black version yesterday from amazon, was able to cancel and buy this instead . I had a $20 voucher and ended up paying $113, bargain!
