Few cents dearer than lowest price ($59.49) ever for such a fantastic device.
Conbee is the one stop solution for integrating Zigbee devices to the Home Assistant (or similar platforms) without needing vendor specific hubs. I am running plenty of Hue lights, Ikea Tradfri sensors & lights, and Aqara sensors on my HA via Conbee.
Zigbee devices create mesh thus provide much better coverage and battery life as compared to Wifi smart devices.

Not sure if this is a limited time deal or if this will be the permanent pricing from now on.

  • What distance around the house do you get with these. Could you put devices outside without issues?

    • I've got my whole house covered with a single Conbee and no repeaters. If you wanted to extend the range, add some Zigbee bulbs or the Ikea Signal Repeater into the mix.

    • +2

My HA setup is in the middle of the house. I have put an Ikea motion inside my letter box for notifications and it works like charm.

      • How far away is it? I want to do the same but its 110m to the letterbox, so i think it would struggle?

        • 110m would be out of range for sensor to communicate to Conbee.
I have Ikea Tradfri bulbs in my outdoor garage lights and the sensors communicates with the hub via the bulbs.
You’d need put a zigbee bulb or repeater (Ikea repeater) in between hub and the sensor.

          • @harry2015: Ok thanks, yes that's what i was afraid of. Unfortunately there's no power available between the house and letterbox.

  • +1

Pretty expensive compared to a CC2531 USB device.

    • You're also paying for the software side. Their plugin is very nice and I've found it easier than dealing with MQTT.

    • I had ordered CC2531 from AliExpress initially but the package never reached to me due to COVID mess.
Buy I am very happy with Conbee and Deconz integration. Its super simple to setup, configuration is very easy and devices work without any issues.

    • While the CC2531 is cheaper it doesn't work so well if you have lots of devices. I changed over to a CC1352P_2 has given me better range and stability, running 30 devices this is with Zigbee2MQTT

  • +1

I've just finished setting up a Conbee II with HA. Excellent integration and range, wish I had of bought at this price. Nice bit of gear.

    • I used to be in to OpenHab, Hass.io but when I moved house I just set everything up using Alexa routines + xiaomi mijia + hue + harmony… can't think of a use for either OH/HA now and I have 3 RPi waiting for a reason.

  • Has anyone figured out how to manage hue bulb power on state with the conbee? I've switched all my bulbs back to the hue hub so that they don't come on if there's a power disruption when the kids are sleeping.

    • Not sure how to do it in the 'traditional method' but you could set an automation to turn the light back off in HA if you didn't turn it on?

  • Can these plug in to a router directly or does it need to be a computer?

    • +1

Needs a computer, but not a particularly fast one. Plenty of people using a Raspberry Pi or similar.

  • Can the Tradfri sensors work with Hue lights using this?

  • If I was to use this with HA, would it show up as a Hue bridge without the need for emulated hue?

Currently using emulated hue with my Logitech Pop switches so I can use them with my Tuya based lights but every now and again getting "No connection to Philips Hue gateway" errors so wondering if this would handle it better.

(Probably get one anyway so I can start trying out some ZigBee sensors)

    • It won’t show up as Hue Bridge.

  • 3 Camels shows it was $33 in Dec? And Amazon AU was selling it for around $60 most of 2019 and early 2020? If that's incorrect, what is the normal price?

  • Will this work with the lockwood digital deadbolt with zigbee 1.2?

  • Has anyone received their order?

    • I have received mine last 2 weeks ago. Not sure how to set it up to run with my lockwood digital deadbolt which said to be compatible with HAZ1.2, so it is just sitting there unloved.
