Just found this on TOBYDEALS AU - Nokia 7.2 6GB/128GB Dual Sim - Charcoal

The website says there is Free Shipping for Metro areas only, remote areas will be charged $33.99"

This is my first post dear friends, and I believe this is the lowest I have seen for this phone. I am considering replacing my Huawei Nova that I have used for over 2 years now.

This or the Xiaomi A3 at JB Hi-Fi for $299

I have been using the Nokia 8.1 for the last year as my daily driver. It's just gone in for a warranty claim against the USB-C port failing. Overall a very good, high spec phone. Worth mentioning that HMD Globals Nokia range has been plagued by USB-C failures in the X.1 models of their phones. Hopefully in these X.2 models this issue has been fixed. I would have a quick google about the USB-C port failing in this model to see if it's still a problem. Otherwise it's an excellent phone.

I have a 6.1 that's shown no problems at all.
otoh I used to have a 7 Plus where the USB port looked like it had been designed to fall. The port covered the front side of the USB C plug just fine but it only covered about a quarter of the back.

No prizes for guessing why everyone needed to get the charging port replaced every month or so.

      • 6.1 uses the working USB-C. 6.1 Plus has the breaking version of USB-C and I think 7.1 has the same issue as well.

        • My 7.1 has a dead port as we speak and I won't be replacing it with another Nokia . Known issue , clearly a manufacturing fault .
Plenty of updates but still has occasional random issues .

      • Yes, all good with the two 6.1 in the family.

    • 5.1+ - USB port replaced under warranty.

    • Haha, great timing. I literally just got home from dropping my Nokia 7.1 off to JB Hifi for a warranty claim on the phone not charging properly.

Ridiculous, just got a call from JB Hifi to say they have knocked back the repair as they claim there's water damage! Never dropped in water and the USB port problem is widely reporting on the web (here and other places) :(

  • Anyone compared this to the Oppo A52 going for $299 at JB, OW and poetry much everywhere?

The A52 camera isn't as good, but wondering if there are any clear differences in day to day use?

    • Clear skin OS would be a big selling point for this Nokia.

    • Also 2 year Australian warranty from a bricks and mortar retailer. Having had the TD warranty experience (err none) and needing a Paypal refund, you should compare at Oz pricing. So Australian stock Nokia 7.2 for $429 v $299 A52 - you choose if it's worth an extra $130…

  • wait until sub-300 for tax return. Need a phone for work.

TobyDeals shipping policy on this is interesting: free shipping metro areas, regional shipping $33.99. Blatant rip-off of regional people, it costs about $7 (~20%) to send a small package to majority of regional areas through AusPost, or less for those businesses that can take advantage of AusPost volume discounts. Regions subsidising metro maybe?

    • Really only $7 for a small package regionally.

Sent a phone from Byron N.S.W. region to Katoomba N.S.W. regular post and cost me over ten dollars.

Still a lot less than $34, sounds like that's how they average out the cost from China with the free ones lol.

Just checked my address with Tobi Deals and at least now I get free delivered as last year they were adding me to regional.

Auspost charges $9.20 for a small (35.5 x 22cm) prepaid parcel if your phone fits in it.

        • I was selling a phone in original box + case and screen protector in their own packaging,

so maybe just oversize/weight for that $9.20 deal.

    • I'm sure it's still a rip off, but these phones are sent from Hong Kong FYI, they aren't domestic packages sent by Australia Post.
