These printers are great for installing a rihac continuous inking system due to their non-moving cartridge design.

I used to work for the official rihac distributor in South Australia and installed many a system into the predecessors to this bad-boy (the TX700W, TX710W and Artisan 720/725).

    • yeah these do seem to be the printer of choice to use with CIS, same I got mine from VIC, so easy to use and install. never had a problem with it unlike the canon ones. gotta sell my old canon one now…

been meaning to put it on ebay.

save so much in ink costs, i got the 825 - think the only difference was the fax feature.

shame epsons dont do negative scanning though…

    • Doesn't Epson have a chip on each cartridge which counts the umber of uses and then effectively shut down the cartridge when the count is up? This happened to my last Epson - I discovered to late that it wouldn't even allow me to refill!

I have sworn off Epson since, but if it could be made into a continuous inking system - that would be awesome! How hard is it to set up? How much on average?

      • think it was about 140 for the ink system, but it comes full of ink so more than worth it, yes it has chips, but the CIS has a button you press for five seconds that resets the chips. highly recomend it with the CIS, i have a set of genuine ink of it that ill put on ebay, if they sell for around 60-70 bux for the full set that came with the printer the CIS will only cost 50-60 bux….

pretty happy with the quality of it as well… had a few issues with the paper pick up a couple of times (paper jam - picking up a couple of peices at a time) when we where printing out invites, but nothing a 10-15 minutes of fiddling didnt fix, just clearing it out etc.

also no film scanner like they have in some cannons, but over all all good.

…never mind, this is one of the most confusing websites i've seen… :S

    • Hi jv, sorry about the confusion. They're the same model - just from different suppliers. To confirm, the $149 All-in-one inkjet model is also a multifunction.

  • Damn! I bought the old model 725 for $170 from HN last month :(

  • How does printer compare to the Canon MG6150?

Seems to get really good reviews, http://www.google.com.au/search?rlz=1C1AVSC_enAU440AU440&gcx…

  • I have been looking at a replacement for my canon MP630 that was killed by a CIS, looks like a great buy

    • My Canon MP600 died last month with a clogged print head. I was using it for 2.5 years with a Rihac's CISS.

I am now using the Epson A725 for a month fitted from new with the MIR's CISS. I have no complaint with its performance but it's only been used by my kids for printing their school works.

From the many reviews I've read the MG6150 & the A725 both have a very good picture printing performance. However, when it comes to printing very small text the MG6150 performance remains good where as the Epson drops to only average. However, the Epson A725 should give greater reliability if using with the CISS as their ink cartridges are fixed; so no more problem with air leakage in the system.

The only complaint I have with the Epson printer is that the paper out tray is flimsy and require to be pulled out manually. No such problem with the Canon.

      • I got a good run out it of it, saved me a fortune.
My Photo Printer Epson R2880 is fitted with a 10 colour Lyson CISS (matt black/Gloss black
on good paper stock like ilford pearl it looks better that the epson ink. does bleed slightly more on some stocks, I also do have to use a special colour profile in Photoshop.
I wont be buying canon again my mp630 was a bit of a lemon even before the clog.
