Asus TUF line are the absolute cards to avoid!!! Thermal solution doesn't make contact with actual die so these cards overheat like crazy.

True, avoid Asus TUF series at all cost.

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I'm only finding info about this with the TUF RX 5700 cards. Is it still a problem with these?

    • +2

I thought the thermal issues with TUF were limited to the Radeon 5700/5700XT cards only?

$340 for ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 Overclocked 6GB Phoenix Fan Edition. Looks similar, with slightly lower Boost Clock and one fan cooler design.

Edit: NVM. One uses DDR6 and one uses DDR5…

    • "ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 Overclocked 6GB Phoenix Fan Edition"
I've got one of these, works great and no problems with overheating .

    • Actually I was trying to work out the difference between a 1660 and 1660 Super and this comment made me realise that GDDR5 vs GDDR6 is pretty much it.

    This or the $50 GTX 1050ti GTS450? :-)

  • Available 6 weeks away. Lol what

    • yeah by that time, cards will drop in price

      • Yea. There's another post earlier on ozb for 1660, on back order as well.

  • So not really an upgrade from 1060 3GB, right?

  • yup. overclocking this brings it from sad to mediocre

    lol

  • No DVI connectors on the back. I suppose they've gone the way of the dodo. Gee this forced obsolescence really puts the dries right up me.

    • Which card do you mean? This has 1x DVI-D and and also 1x HDMI so just need an adapter to convert to DVI.
The one thing they never seem to tell you is whether the DisplayPort is dual mode and will output a DVI compatible signal via a passive adapter.

    • Thank the tech lords for skipping ancient stuffs. DVI should have been gone ages ago.
