Have You Bought from Wish.com?

Interesting site, heaps of stuff, crazy cheap, esp micro SD cards, for example, PNY 1TB micro SD card A$24.

The store also has an Android app Wish.

Is this site legit?

The store is banned from OzBargain, for counterfeit products.

I believe AliExpress is cheaper and better. Even eBay is better.

    https://aliexpress.com/

AliExpress has a lot of good consumer protections if goods are fake or aren't received in time. I think they even cover return postage costs for certain items.

I don't know they are banned here. Good to know

    • +1

Do you know if there is a list of all banned stores? Thanks.

      • +1

Agreed. Would be good to have a banned list so we all know what businesses to avoid

        • We do not have an exhaustive list of stores that are currently banned. You can simply search for individual stores using our built in search tool and clicking on the relevant entry for the store page. The search box on the top of the page can also autocomplete search terms for known stores.

You can also directly navigate to the store page by typing in URL (e.g for Google Playstore it would just be https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/play.google.com, Wish.com would just be https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/wish.com)

Please note that many of the stores that we ban on Ozbargain are in fact banned for sockpuppeting / infringements of Ozbargain guidelines (eg store lacking business info, deal posts featuring banned items), as opposed to more consumer related issues such as poor customer service, bad seller performance or issues with products.

For possible issues relating to merchants it's best that you search on forums, deal comments and Google for anecdotal feedback rather than relying on our penalty system completely.

    • Ali Express are pretty bad themselves! It's why PayPal can't be used on the site. Their return process is an automated bot. Sellers can get away with whatever they want. I'd say it's 50/50 from my experience and other people I've known shopping on there. Plus postage usually takes 4-8 weeks. I've had sellers blackmail me into leaving a positive reviews just so I can get my money back from defective and wrong items.

      • I've had no issues with AliExpress, I wasn't expecting fast shipping so I didn't care about the delivery time.

It might depend on what you purchase though, I only ordered random plastic aquarium plants.

  • I've bought off the a few times, no problems. Delivery can be pretty expensive if you buy from different sellers also can take a pretty long time to arrive.

Can't comment on the legitimacy of sd cards only ever bought clothing items

It's amusing that those one-star reviewers only bothered to check Product Review after their bad experiences.

      • Yeah never ceases to amaze me that people don’t do simple due diligence when it’s soooooo easy to do!

Never buy any sort of hardware (hard drives, GPUs, etc)
GPUs & hard drives/SDs are pretty much all fake
Better off buying local stock from known sellers.
If you do buy a hard drive/SD, run an H2testw test to check the legitimacy of the drive

I only had a look at the SD cards. The prices definitively don't inspire confidence

Super cheap, but all replica/fakes. And not very good fakes either.

Even DHgate sells better fakes than wish.

  • +1

No, that's mostly due to the reports I've heard from friends who have ordered from them.

I won't go so far as to say it's a scam site, but from what I've heard they're toeing that line rather closely…

  • May as well just ask has anyone been scammed lately.

    Been there..done that.. it's 99% fake stuff.

I would never purchase from Wish

When AliExpress cracked down and started banning all the fake goods, where did the sellers go? Wish.com.

  • I bought something from Wish on 20 April.

    Product still hasn't arrived.

Would never buy anything from them.

  • Bought a $3 phone, received a $1 micro usb cable which stopped working. A scam. Where the seller can change their item description after payment and postage and get away with it. This was a while ago, maybe a year or two ago. No idea if Wish has changed now.

Wish.com is the Expectation vs Reality website.

  • It takes forever to arrive, you think it's cheap until they add postage to everything and it's all just rubbish.

I had my time buying stuff from Wish but thank goodness it's over. Never again.

  • have bought and been ripped off. they are thieving scum. did gey my money back from visa, but avoid these pos like the plague

  • I bought a $7 ball of wool there last year. It was supposed to be Aussie wool and it was in a pretty variegated colour. I know some Aussie wool is sent to China to be turned into balls of wool, so I thought it was legit. The picture of the label said Aussie wool.

The ball that arrived didn't say Aussie wool, the colour wasn't as nice as on the webpage, and it was rough and scratchy! I'll never buy anything from there again.

  • Never buy from wish. Not even once. What you buy and what you get is the subject of countless memes on Reddit, as posted above.
