Might wait and see what happens with the new consoles about to drop.

The Last of Us Part 2 needs pro at minimum.

    • +5

It really does not, check the digital foundry video

      • Probably means he wouldn’t want to play it on the original/slim rather than being incompatible

        • The game probably runs a bit better on the PS4 Pro.

            @hollykryten: Most do

          • +1

@hollykryten: According to John from DF, the game runs fine on PS4 (1080p) and the frame rate is better on PS4 than PS4 Pro (PS4 Pro runs at 1440p). PS4 Pro does occasionally dips below 30fps more so than PS4.

            • @netsurfer: Do they mention about the ps4 Pro but with a FHD TV

    • +2

They prioritised compatibility with the base PS4 over the pro.

Also pro is literally sold out everywhere :(

    • +4

Agreed, not a good price. Considering the circumstances, it might be a bargain. Not a valid reason to neg unless you can provide a cheaper price. I expect prices to continually fall and then crash once next gen releases. You’d be a fool to purchase now

Paid about this much for my PS4Pro from BigW sales in 2018…

    • paid $379 in 2018 too

      • -3

I never got round to opening mine from that sale (all-ready had a slim on 5.05 firmware) and I just sold it on ebay for $570 at auction…Wish I'd bought a few more.

        • +1

Insane. I paid $499 for a brand new PS4 Pro online from Target literally about a month ago. But it was hard to get to begin with. PS4 Pro literally went up in price since you basically can't get it any more.

But at least it's not the crappy first release of the PS4 Pro with the noise problem.

Bundling a game they know will bomb, sounds like a great deal to me

    • +2

IGN gave it 10/10 so obviously it's game of the year since IGN is so rarely wrong

      • +1

Is this sarcasm? Hard to tell on the internet

    • Don’t feed the troll!!

    • +1

You realise reviews for the games are already out and they're almost universally high. 96 on metacritic.

  • $259 for my slim, checkout the price tracker for amazon:

    https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0773RV962

    $223.99 > $439.95

    • +2

Yes, and once upon a time, people didn't fight over toilet paper.

You are not going to get 224 for ages.

      Used ones go for more!

      • +1

That is insane. Used one are going for more than what I paid for when I bought it new.

        • Yeah the market is a bit crazy at the moment, I actually sold my slim for $300 on gumtree a month or so ago (probably could've got $350) and bought a pro for $519 from jbhifi…

The pro dropped to $386 on eBay bigw with a Student beans discount but I hesitated then they went out of stock as covid was happening.

I snapped up a pro as soon as it came back in stock to play nioh 2 lol.

          Oh well 😣

          • @Kammi: That's a rip off mate. I upgraded to the Xbox One X but I sold my used original Xbox One for $150 which was how much they were going for a year ago. There were a few sellers selling around the same price but most wanted 280 to 400 which I felt was price gouging.

      • I don't think prices will go to these levels any time soon either, they announced ps5 and will slow or stop production on ps4 500Gb

Amazon US shows it as 'discontinued'

        https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-4-Slim-500GB-Console-Disc…

        • PS4 and PS4 Pro prices should plummet once the PS5 releases and people try to offload their old consoles as the PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games. If anyone wanted it new and can wait, I suggest Black Friday sales.

    • Hopefully prices come down again soon!

    • $223.99 > $439.95

That's the most untrue thing I've seen today…

      • Not sure how accurate camel camel is, but I bought mine for $259 off Amazon 2 Christmases ago, at the time bigw had them for the same price (but their online sales model is rubbish e.g. you buy online, then they physically check stock to fulfill), $223 ain't far off..🤷‍♂️

        • If you can't see how $223.99 > $439.95 is untrue, then I can't help you…

          • @p1 ama: Haha 👌

Should read from $223.99 to $439.95

  • -3

How come this price is a deal?

It's not a good deal but probably the best price if you factor in the cost of the game. For those that don't want the game and can't be bothered selling it, the PS4 Slim (black or white) is available at Big W for $349:
      https://www.bigw.com.au/entertainment/video-games-consoles/p…

Honestly, this late in the console lifecycle with the PS5 right around the corner, 500GB PS4 Slims should be in the low $200 range.
