    What version thou?

  • Exactly. No version stated probably means they are v1.1 and are video only and not even supporting sound through HDMI

    • so what versions are out their and which ones should we get for computer monitor and blu-ray player?

      • You should look for "High speed" HDMI cables.

Manufacturers and retailers are not supposed to be using version numbers on cables under the current HDMI licensing and testing procedures.

See here for the cable types currently in use, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Cables

    • A HDMI cable made under spec v1.1 can support audio, and can also support 1080p if it can support the required bandwidth.

The cables don't know what the information they are sending is, so as long as they have the required bandwidth they can support all features of that HDMI spec, except Ethernet over HDMI as specified under HDMI 1.4 as this requires a change in the construction of the cable no devices support this feature yet.

      • thanks :))

  • it very clearly states it is the "19 pin premium" version HDMI cable. ;)

    • The problem it does not state if it is "standard" or " high" speed HDMI, only high speed is certified to support 1080p and 3D.

  • With cables 2 metres or less it doesent matter if you pay $2 or $200 you will get the same result, all hmdi cables are high speed, you should read some of the test on the internet.

    • I think we're fretting over the avaliable features themselves rather than the quality, which as you mentioned is probably not a big deal at this length.

Personally I don't think this is anything special, as you can get a 2m v1.4 High Speed HDMI from Jamell for just under 8 bucks (http://www.jamellcables.com.au/hdmi-cables/standard-hdmi-cab…) which explicitly states support for ethernet, 1080p, 3D and audio return. Whereas this one seems to be a bit of a shot in the dark.

Also there have been quite a few deals in the past for 5 buck v1.4 cables, including those from Jamell!
