  • Is there supposed to be a code? Shows $59 for me. Nvm. Big sign saying 50% off at checkout.

    • oof these dumb prices… who's paying $59 for 4 batteries and a dumb charger…

      • +25

They last longer when you pay full rrp

      • +16

        It’s actually a smart charger

      • +5

Tbh, I don't understand why people don't just buy the IKEA Laddas for some $13. Such great value. Sure they're not eneloops but pretty close to it from my understanding

        • +1

          what about charger ?

          • +2

@ChipsChicky: The charger is like $15

            • +1

@ExtraSalt: So the Ikea batteries for $13 and the charger for $15 adds up to $28, which is a dollar short of the $29 for this deal with 4 x AA batteries and the charger. I'd prefer to go with this, unless you dont have a Bing Lee near you or delivery is too much.

        • +3

Unfortunately my closest IKEA is 500km away :(

        • +2

I tried ikea ones and eneloop and eneloop last longer. I use them in portable gps and in camera flash unit. You get what you pay for.

        • (the white) IKEA LADDA are supposedly made in the same factory in Japan as the Eneloop (pros?). You can find quite a bit on people trying to figure out if they are just re-badged Eneloops.

  • Need some AAA batteries but I already have the charger 😣

  • +3

What are good use cases for rechargeable batteries? I usually buy a random 30-pack tray and just replace the batteries when they are flat (well, besides the good for environment part, which I agree)

    • +6

Gaming console controllers for one. Kids toys. TV remote etc.

      • +1

Gaming controllers make sense, I imagine they will consume battery fast especially with haptic feedback. Kid toys are 1 reason I bought the 30-pack tray(s) instead of rechargeable ones, got so many of them lying around the house lol.

Edit: I just remember why I paid quite a bit extra for wireless keyboard and mouse with lithium batteries instead of AA/AAA, couldn't find any good deal on rechargeable AAA and was afraid I'd blow through battery packs fast.

        • +5

If you have VR gear like window mixed reality for example. Those sucker (The VR controllers, 4 x AA total) drain batteries like no tomorrow. And the controller are picky about which rechargeable batteries they play nice with. AFAIK Eneloop works.

    • +3

      Torches, camera flashes,

    • +8

Paper weight. Make sure it remains sealed in its packaging.

    • Been using eneloops for my xbox controller for years, totally worth it

    • Less landfill waste.

    • chuck em in your misso's vibe, better bang for your buck

    • For me it's the environmental factor. I haven't bothered to do the math to see if they're better value than replacing, but anecdotally I think so. (I use the IKEA LADDAs, although do have some Eneloops which I use for my camera flash)

    • Also computer mice, clocks, multimeters.

A big advantage of rechargeables is that they don't melt down when they go flat. Many TVs and media players are almost unusable without a remote control, so it's important to NOT have your batteries melt down.

Yes, you can buy brands of alkaline batteries that guarantee they won't melt down, but those are expensive. After two recharges with NiMh batteries, you'll be ahead in terms of cost.

Also make sure you get low-self-discharge rechargeable batteries (e.g. eneloops, Ikea Ladda, Aldi rechargeables). The "old" type of rechargeables go flat in a month or two, whether you use them or not.

I wish their eBay store could match the price. Hunting for Eneloop for my motion sensor lights.

    • ebay price guarantee WILL match the price (via a voucher of the difference + 5% of the binglee price)

      • what about the shipping fee?

      • can u use the voucher at checkout or is only for next checkout?

  • +4

Only if it was free hsipping!

  • +3

cheaper to get the ikea ladda range. apparently these are rebadged eneloop pros.
    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/cat/batteries-battery-chargers-41…

    • How fast can they charge the batteries?

      • Personally I bought this eneloop charger last time it was on sale at bing lee, but buy all my AA and AAA batteries from ikea

    • +2

Eneloops are rechargeable up to 2100 times while the new Ikea Ladda only accept up to 500 charges

      • The Eneloop pros says 500 charges too

      • +3

        Ikea website says 1,500?

      • new Ikea Ladda only accept up to 500 charges

Unless you're recharging the batteries several times a week, it's unlikely to make any difference. 500 charges is nearly ten years, if you are recharging once a week.

I don't recharge any of my batteries more than once a month, so 500 recharges is 40+ years. I don't expect the plastic sleeve on the battery to last that long, and they'll probably go rusty in that time.

2100 charges is a number that very few people will reach.

Also, Ikea's Ladda batteries are comparable to Eneloop Pro batteries, which also have a life of 500 charges.

        • +1

Have Aldi low discharge batteries. Hardly got 10 charges out of it. Now it fails to charge. Envelops still going strong. Same for Aldi led globes. Supposed to last longer than standard globes. Running through them faster than fluorescent globes. Moral of the story, you pay for what you get.

  • Thanks, been waiting for some of these

  • Unsure if this charger can do full charge in 1.5 hours as it's printed on cover. I bought it base on the smart charge and quick charge functionality.
Anyone has this eneloop charger can shed some lights on the speed of charging?

    • +1

Reviews say 1.5 hours only for 1 to 2 batteries.

  • I was about to check out and run into an error. Oh well.

    • I found an error in the way they force you to receive their marketing material. I'm not buying because of it. This is on their checkout page:

"BY CLICKING "I ACCEPT", YOU AGREE TO BING LEE'S TERMS OF SALE & PRIVACY POLICY AND TO RECEIVING MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS FROM BINGLEE.COM.AU (REQUIRED)"

I put 3 battery packs in the cart and the discount is only $35. That's weird.

  • only good old ozbargainers know…

  • +4

I have heard that BingLee is planning to open stores in VIC?
Hope this will happen sooner as Delivery kills the deal

    • There is a warehouse in Noble Park for click and collect only when i searched their store locator. But can't click and collect eneloops

  • Hi. Can anybody recommend a smart charger that uses a USB input? I'd like to mount and plug it into a battery box with solar panel so speed is not really a priority, mostly reliability:cost.

    • +2

      Liitokala?

      • Thanks, had a look at 2 models, people say good things but I don't see any real long term reviews. I'd probably prefer something with a local warranty too as it'll be on the road.

        • 2x littakolas? redundancy on da road.

  • +3

I still have very fond memories of eneloop deals and charges from Dick Smith before they went down. Ridiculous prices at the time.

    • +4

I still have very fond memories of eneloop deals

Only memory? I still have a lot of those AA eneloop in my drawer.

      • Haha I still have the batteries and chargers.

    • +1

      Part of OzBargain folklore :)

  • +1

Can only buy a certain amount before the discount stops… stupid.

    • no discount if you order more than 2 packs of each type

  • Would this be better than the ozbargain eBay/aliexpress popular smart chargers?

  • Thanks got a couple

  • Hopefully Amazon price match

  • Is the charger any good and will it charge other batteries beside Eneloops?

  • Thanks OP. Pulled the plug, after a fair amout of contemplation.

  • +1

Got one of each for $64.50 total, collecting from Rhodes where ironically there's an IKEA. Might grab a set of AA/AAAs from there, too!

    • Same!

  • +4

    Shipping in 124-131 days omg

  • What's the big fuss of these?

The ones in my tv remote were low on power according to the TV, so I put them on the charger and the light just flashes. Its their first damn cycle.

    • A small number of devices don't like the lower voltage of NiMh rechargeable batteries. Some won't work, some just report the batteries are flat when they aren't.

NiMh batteries are ~1.4V when just out of the charger, which rapidly drops to 1.2V when used. 1.1V is considered dead flat for a NiMh battery. Compare this to the 1.5V nominal of a fresh alkaline, of the 1.7V of a fresh Energizer Lithium!

If your TV remote works with the rechargeables, just ignore the low-battery warning. I have a kitchen scale that has been telling me the batteries are flat, for over a year. I use it every day, it just keeps working.

      • Yah, but I put them on the charger anyway, and all it does is flash as if there was a problem!

  • Shows as $35 for me? Already expired?

    • Discount applies to 2x of each item.

ETA delivery 19th October to Victoria

    • Woah

      • Website says out of stock "We expect stock will arrive within 2-4 months". Glad I still have 2 packs of AA left from last sale.

        • Local pick up seems still available

          • @arctan: Sydney here, it said require a transfer from other store.

  • Got the charger set and 4*AAA. I don't mind that it'll be shipped in 3 months time as I've got plenty of stock on hands lol, and they're all in use so just purchasing in advance.

  • +2

ETA 26th of October…that's a fair way away! I'm not desperate for them but that's a bit of a joke for just some batteries.

  • Got more eneloooops cheers op!

  • +1

Ships in 121 days. I'm in.

  • After waiting more than two months for Camera House to ship my Eneloops, I’ve done my time.

  • I ordered yesterday and got phone call for picking up today.

  • Bought this charger and battery set a year or ago from Bing Lee. I'd highly recommend! One of the best things I've bought.
