  • 69 saved. Nice. (• ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°•)

    • 69 is off :(

    • Strange says 68 off on my version.

      • +4

        I guess they'll owe you one….

    • 69 is nice!

  • +1

Great price. I got one of these after my old xperia tablet bit the dust, and it is a solid android tablet with no bloatware, good for all my needs.

  • What’s ambient mode google assistant?

    • +2

      Ask Google Assistant 😜

    • -2

Cut down version of what's available on the Google smart displays like the Home Hub / JBL Link / Lenovo

Also is available on phones as well, but not really worth it cos it's pretty cut down

      • +1

Well,it's a tablet that you don't need to plug all the time so it'd be better that the home hub except for the speakers

        • -1

Ah in terms of functionality it really isn't. If you really wanted ambient mode you can get it in a phone.

          • @adrianhughes1998: You're confusing the lenovo yoga smart tab (this, which is a full tablet that can "fall back" to being a hub in ambient mode") with the less capable lenovo "smart display" which is like a google home hub.
This device is a fully capable tablet that can do anything any other google tablet can do, or ipad can to. etc.
Yes it runs ALL normal google apps.

I love this machine, and it's predecessors, so I don't want people reading your incorrect comments and getting the wrong idea!

            • @DisasterArea: I'm not confusing anything dude.

The Ambient Mode on tablets / phones is nowhere near as featured as what is on Google smart displays.

Did I say anything about the tablet itself in my comments? No. I was referring to the Ambient Mode and the Smart Displays - nothing to do with the functionality outside the Ambient Mode. Of course it's a tablet and it runs apps. So is a phone and it runs apps.

People can watch YouTube videos and walkthroughs of the Ambient Mode versus the Google smart displays (Home Hub, Lenovo, JBL etc), and see the differences. Sorry but you're wrong on this one.

              • @adrianhughes1998: The way you wrote it I read as you were saying it wasn't a tablet capability… i.e. "this thing is only a cut down version of…."

I don't care much about the hub capabilities, as I have a hub already, that's just a bonus on top of it being a tablet.

Oh and it plays PUBG fine… for anyone interested in games.

                • @DisasterArea: Yes if people had read the initial start to the thread that PVA said for context, they would have realised.

                  • +1

@adrianhughes1998: I replied the wrong person in the first place -bad eyes! hmmm I cannot remove or edit comments now… lives with the shame.

I read a review saying that it can't do the usual Android app, games, office apps, etc. Is that true?

    • Are you sure you are not confused with Lenovo smart display? This is just a regular android tablet.

    • I was looking in to this, in this review
      https://www.slashgear.com/review-lenovo-yoga-smart-tab-with-…
      It says:
"The Ambient Mode disappears as soon as the tablet is unplugged, enabling the user to access the ordinary Android interface."
Although it also says "The tablet is not capable of handling more intensive tasks, however, and it can’t be used to play more demanding games."

      • +2

I've had this tablet for six months now and use it frequently for conference calls and browsing with no issues.
The clean android & kick standard are great features.
        I don't play demanding games.

        • +1

Yeah, I find it great. That said, I've no use for google assistant or ambient mode so they are among the things I disable, so I can't comment on that above review. I mainly use it for browsing, including reciped when cooking, email, and remote desktop to my laptop

        • What's the weight like? I keep coming back to this tablet but that stand put me off a bit.

It would be a nice travel feature though, being able to use it as a smart display as well.

          • +1

@pete123: I find the weight okay.

The rounded side / stand makes it really nice to hold in one hand in portrait mode.

We also have the previous version of this and still happily using it.
The only reason for not purchasing this tablet would be the Lenovo Duet which runs ChromeOS.

And 4GB RAM for those who are interested…

    • +1

With 4gb ram if should be able to do most things!

Anyone who has one able to provide feedback on how it performs?

  • I was planning to buy this, but for just watching Netflix/YouTube and web browsing, would it better to buy this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/124223531249. Or a refurb surface pro 3?

    • +1

A refurn surface pro 3 would be a lot more capable.

I had one of the early yoga tabs and loved it, although it was underpowered, I like the rolled battery edge because it puts the weighty bit in your hand and feals soooo good.
I was about to but one full price but have been looking at lenovo yoga x1's second hand aroung $800 - might go for this now.

    • +5

Surface pro 3 is a Windows. I found Windows used as a tablet is very cumbersome, not user-friendly. 64GB storage is not enough for Windows.

    • +4

Personally I'd rather an Android device if it was just for Netflix and YouTube. Windows adds a lot of complications you don't need for those simple tasks and will use a lot more ram, disk and processor just running the os.

      • +2

Yeah. When my old experia tablet started to die I was considering getting a surface pro. I do use windows at work and home. One benefit is you will get OS updates forever more or less. But it is too bloated and power hungry compared to an android tablet. I was also wanting to be able to do stuff easily on windows from home when I was on the recliner in the home theater (eg for software I need to run on windows for the HT) - but in the end I figured once tablet mode is configured in Win 10, I can do everything I need from the Android tablet using Microsoft Remote Desktop.

    • +2

Audio quality is a step above most tablets and the kick stand is good for watching on kitchen bench / table.

    • Thanks guys for your thoughts. Hopefully Big W will reduce their price so I can use my gift card.

  • Dang it I've bought one, delivered, as nowhere has stock near me NSW 2113

    • I may have accidentally bought two…. I found they have two on the shelf in the back at officeworks north ryde 2113… I just took one of them so there's one left, but JB may also deliver me one in case anyone gets caught out - will be happy to pass on for cost.

      • I DID just recieve a second one in the post, which I will hold onto for today if anyone is interested, otherwise it will be going to JB hifi Macquarie centre, unopened of course!

  • This or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A next week for $199 eBay Plus deal ?

    • Whats happening with ebay plus? I just ran out of plus.. should I be getting another account as a free trial? I would like to get the Galaxy tab.

      • +1

you guys might wanna read this about ebay plus first :)

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/544123

        • Oh.. that sounds like bad news.. haha.

3.4. There is a maximum of one free 30-day trial of eBay Plus per eBay member. You may not use or create another eBay account in order to take advantage of the free 30-day trial more than once.

    • Tempting if you need a basic tabled, but harder to hold - and only 2gb ram / 32gb storage vs 4gb and 64. with inbuilt stand. You get what you pay for I guess.

  • +1

Can this play full HD netflix?

    • -1

I read lot of reviews and figured out that there are issues with playing Netflix HD on this tablet.

But there is always work around the things
