Not a bad price. Dealfox had it for $350 or $300 refurb not too long ago. Don't think many people care about the e-card voucher.

    Still a good price. +ve

    • If anyone's interested, I have a new A500 leather case+screen protector+stylus sitting around for nothing (sold my A500 before these items arrived from oversea).
Can put it on eBay for $15 if someone needs.

      • Yes, interested!

    • +1

And we may just return with something special :p

  • Isnt this Wifi only version?.

    • yes.A500 is wifi only and A501 is 3G model.

  • What's the voucher good for?

    • "With every purchase of an Acer tablet you will receive an eGift Voucher you can use to redeem music or ebooks". So not good for anything really.

      • +4

You're right no one has any use for music or ebooks.

        • +1

Well it depends on what music/ ebook store the voucher is good for and whether the files have drm. Would be pretty useless if the files aren't portable or if the range is rubbish

      • +1

They better give $100 for purchase any Acer stuff (eg. Acer laptop) or something

  • Go to officeworks, ask them to beat the price by 5%. By law, they have to, they put a public announcement everywhere.

    • yeah i gonna try OW is this any good

      • +1

They might say they don't have stock…

        • +2

always pretend to be buying first and then bring up the subject of HN's promo beginning with "Oh by the way…."

    • +2

Which law is that? They don't have to beat the price at all, no matter what they say.

    • +2

I wasn't aware that a company can create its own laws.

      • -1

        What did you mean?

    • +1

LOL this will be the third time OW get stung by this ninja attack from HN

Would love to see their reaction again on this :D

    • +1

They don't "have" to do anything, they have terms and conditions that protect them from "having" to do it.

  • The contact law, competition and consumer law.

    • Doesn't apply to the price match guarantee.

      • -1

It is a offer to public, another format of agreement.

        • 1st year Law?

        • +2

It's not a binding agreement, it's an invitation to purchase the item at a given price. The law varies from state to state.

        • +13

In summing up, it's the Constitution, it's Mabo, it's justice, it's law, it's the vibe.

      • +1

It is unlawful for businesses to make false or misleading representations about goods or services in promotions or advertising. Misleading and deceptive conduct….. Would be a job for the ACCC!

  • Whats the e-card for then?

    • For eBooks or musics, books on that website are normally priced around $70-$1xx. You can find some books for $2x but I am sure you won't buy it…

  • Great tablet and for $386, it's nuts. Expect all three of the others (OW/DSE/JB) to be at the same price tomorrow morning, so it's really a matter of who you prefer to buy from or who has one in stock in your local area.

    • Nah..I tried that before, JB could not match the price at all

    • Only officeworks will lower its' price i think.

  • JB in Melbourne CBD matched the HN price the last time this sale was on. They best they could do was $382.

  • i'll buy it when the price drops to below $250

    • It'll be 2 generations old by then and you'd be tempted for the latest one :)

  • Just bought one. Note that the price on the shelf was the original pricing so I had to ask the sales guy. He didn't even know about it and had to look it up. As I was paying another sales guy walked past and commented how a lot of people had bought them today but couldn't understand why as they'd apparently been the same price for a month. I mentioned Ozbargain and he was like aaaaahhhhh it all makes sense now.

  • http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC8103/iconia-a500-16gb-wifi… Much better value ate Dick Smith for $488, Lol jks

  • again, next generation is coming out soon ( i mean asus transformation 2). self-control….wait…..

  • Will this work?

    1. Buy in the Good Guys ($480) using Amex ($30 gift card)
    2. Get the 120% price match refund = (480-386)*1.2 = ($112.8)
    3. (I am going oversea next month) Tourist GST refund = ($480/11) = 52.8

So the true cost of the tab = $480-30-112.8-52.8= $284.4

    Yay or Nay?

    • +2

Where do you get $52.8 (the figure I get is $43.6) GST credit from?

      • Maths fail. Instead of dividing by 11, he multiplied by 0.11.

        $43.6-ish is the correct amount.

        • Actually you are correct…

          $480-30-112.8-43.6 =$293.6

  • Got one from Garden City Brisbane. There were two left in stock back around midday. Price was not marked down on the floor, but I got the sale price just by asking. Didn't get that voucher though, not that I'm worried.

Edit: Just realised the voucher is redeemed online here

    I've negotiated the A501 16GB 3G for $500.is that a good deal?

      • Well apart from the special VIP sale that that guy got… I took the receipt into TGG and there was no way that they can do that price and no one else will. I saw another guy got $430 in a 40% off sale. Just wondering what other best prices are out there?

  • -2

i was going to get this or the asus eee pad, but once i found out that the acer cannot play video files over 100mb, i went for the asus

    • WHAAAT? WTF is it being used for then?

      Can you backup your claim?

      • +1

I've played 3GB files on it no worries so I don't know whhere that comes from?

  • got the info from a cnet review, and the jb hifi sales consultant said the same thing…

unless the latest software update has resolved this issue since the cnet review
