Do the heightened hygiene practices mean buffets will likely not be reopening anytime soon? Can't see how they can reopen with the masses handling tongs etc. Also, not really feasible to reopen and offer table service (Sizzler is doing this for now but not sustainable for larger buffets in Casinos and Clubs).

Sadly it's the end of buffets but All You Can Eat will persist (ordering only rather than open layout).
Sad to see China Bar Signature in Burwood go under from COVID-19.
their quality is nowhere near good since they sold the venue in 2014/15

I am hoping some of the expensive buffets reopen
I loved Sizzler as a kid, unfortunately as an adult it just wasn't worth spending 25-30 bucks on mass produced salads/soups/pasta. Although the cheese bread was phenomenal. Pizza hut buffets were also great, wish they were brought back, nothing like trying 5 different pizzas and soft drinks and desserts for $15
Will be missed.
All I ever wanted was the self-serve ice-cream dispenser.
That was, and is, the ONLY reason to go to a buffet!
I can’t even remember when I last went to a buffet, it must be at least 15 years ago.

I have been thinking about this for a while now.
I visited my two favourite buffets just before the lockdowns kicked in, oh the memories..
I think they'll just change to the 'order style' for all you can eat rather than laying out everything, just keep ordering.

if you include places korean bbq buffet, all-you-can-eat yumcha buffet, then yes. lots.

Have always enjoyed the top market hotel breakfast buffets. Had to say that given the shade being thrown at buffets lolLas Vegas Casino Buffets were great. cant recall if they were well priced or not but
probably won't be the end. but it won't come back for long time.
They'll adapt or die. Hopefully it goes to more to the style All you can eat places I've been to in Asia, where instead of getting stuff out of one communal area, you pay a set price and order as much as you can eat.
I've developed an adverse reaction to buffets so wont be sad to see them not coming back.
However, in many places in Asia they do Unlimited Rice in fast food joints/restaurants.
I would love if they did that here - only with Hot Chips - imagine unlimited hot chips!!
Not worry. Chinese operated buffets will reopen as soon as they're allowed to.
Waiting patiently for Signature to reopen.
