  • is Kogan still the cheapest iPad Wi-Fi Only? Just curious.

    • yeah, the cheapest….

      • is it just me, or has Kogan's gotten more expensive

16GB wifi only looks to be ~$570 now (once shipping included)

    • +1

If you want to buy locally, then for the 16GB Wifi Only, JB Hifi has it for $555, Big W has it for $554, and I managed to get Dick Smith to price beat to $549.

good price. amazing that it costs only $499 in the US though. Ridiculous if you ask me.

        • have you heard of GST before mate?

        • which is $508 at the current exchange rate…
add in GST and we are actually cheaper than the US price at this point in time…

        • You do not pay GST on online purchases under $1000

        • An Australian company however does have to pay GST

  • considering an iPad for uni, but it still sounds quite expensive so might look into alternatives.

    • good alternative is Acer A501, Samsung 10.1 Tab (grey import due to Samsung vs Apple).

if your just browsing the net (researching) head for the cheaper alternatives. More suitable and more value for that price…

personally im looking for a cheap 3G one…

    • Some universities wireless networks do not support Android — for e.g University of Western Syd. I wasn't able to get it working with either a Froyo or Gingerbread device.

you might want to check and see if Android is supported by the IT department first.

      • Griffith uni supports android. Plus its easy to set up (i had it working before they set the system up) Takes 2 seconds to learn what seettings you need

      • Almost every university in australia has eduroam network and connecting to that through any android phone or tablet past 2.1 update is very easy !!
        Select phase2 authentication - MSVCHAP2
        ID - YOUR STUDENT ID
        Anonymous -Keep it blank
        Password - YOUR STUDENT PASSWORD

And you are ready to Rock n Roll !! My friend !

Why buy an ipad when a notebook can do more and costs less.

      • +1

Not touch screen, gets bloated with software, tablet has no start up, more portable… Different needs for different people

  • That's not too bad a deal for the 16GB WIFI+3G and 32GB WIFI+3G… But if anyone is looking for the 64GB WIFI+3G, I'm pretty sure JB has it slightly cheaper. It's $714/$814/$894, only 5 bucks cheaper but hey, it's stil a little cheaper :)

I'm waiting for the big 'Steve Jobs is Dead' sales on these pricey gadgets.

    • Im pretty sure if Apple can't release a big change for ipad 3 next year just like what happend for iPhone 4s (possibily iPad 2s instead?) your waiting is worthwhile.

    • wouldn't consumers think that it would be 'insensitive'??

  • Dont forget "Black Friday" 10% off sale at apple worldwide.
One day of the year around end of November(Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States)

Looks like 25th November this year.
    So 16Gb iPad 2 Wi-Fi +3G is $729 - $72.90 = $656.10

    • Never seen once before. If so all the iPhones in Oz must have been robbed from shelves last year.

  • Dont think this is such a good deal for 64GB 3G version. JB HiFi has them for $894 and that's before any haggling. I bought one a couple of days ago for $880.

    • Even cheaper from Kogan. Nowadays standard prices for good tablets should be round 250-600, regardless of brand names and specs.

      • Yeah i considered ordering from Kogan but the saving was not worth it when you add shipping. I also wouldn't be able to use the $100 JB voucher (which i had lying around for almost 12 months and was about to expire) had i bought it from Kogan.
I actually paid $780 for iPad 2 64GB WiFi+3G, but it would have been $880 without the voucher.

  • Thx , just bought 16GB WIFI+3G for $664
    JB HIFI did a price beat , Display price $714 - $50 offer = $664

  • Good deal from a local retailer.
But I was able to score a 64Gb 3G iPad 2 off gumtree for $750….BARGAIN!!!
