I love Philips hue but I can't justify paying this much for spotlights.

    • It'd be nice if it could change color, spotlights are the only kind of light I'd actually want to change the color of.

They do change colour. I have them and mine do.

Oh well maybe these lights would be nice then. Would love to throw green light on my garden, would make it look less dead at night.

          • @AustriaBargain: For me they have made a huge difference for that exact reason. I also have the calla pedestal lights that are equally as good. I sync them to music and the effect is awesome.

  • I went the cheaper route and did the house with the brand holman from Bunnings.

I wish I didn’t cheap out and went with hue instead.

    • Hey mate can you explain why? I'm having the same problem deciding. I was planing to go holman as it's cheaper what is your expirience?

      • You cannot change the individual bulb with holman.

All lights connected to the connected have to be the same colour and brightness.

I had the deck lights and like 8 spotlights.

The deck lights are so bright 4% is all u need, and that made the garden to dim.

I ended up having to buy two connectors which isn’t ideal.

Also the holman rgb don’t have standard whites.

I went with LIFX at first. But Hue was always the true path.

    • I went with Yeelight at the beginning and hated it. Probably better now, but my Hue has been flawless.

In September these were $109 and the add ons $84.
I’m waiting for price to go to down a bit more.

  • I don't get it, why not just buy one cheap outdoor frame and install with philip bulb only?

    • These are waterproof and will withstand outdoor elements. Not sure by doing that you would achieve the same result.

He said buy outdoor frame? Outdoor frames would be waterproof as well.

        • -1

If HE buys a 'cheap outdoor frame ' and the enclosure has an IP65 or higher rating then maybe. HE also said 'with philip bulb' and didn't specify a hue bulb.

    • i think these are significantly brighter.

      • Yeah, regular hue bulb isn't very bright. Definitely don't recommend using them outdoor.

        • These are only 600 lumens though

          • +1

@AncientWisdom: Yea I used the gu10 bulb in an outdoor facade lamp so I can use the triggers and schedules. And so far they work just fine. Thinking of doing the same at the driveway with a bollard

If you just need the extension i picked one up for $115 last week at bunnings. I actually picked them up for $79 from Amazon last year but unfortunately that deal hasnt returned since, i've been on the lookout.

    • Yes bought mine cheaply and also got an extra 20% off because they had an echo offer at the time as well.

      • Yep, that was the deal i got.

        • Yeah bargain!

  • I have benched all the wifi bulbs inside for hue and I want some outside also, but the prices are BS.

I'm nearly tempted to try the Mirabella spotlights at half the price.

    Anyone used them?

    • +1

I've heard good things about GLEDOPTO Zigbee bulbs that are compatible with the Hue bridge. Trying to stay away from bulbs that need the cloud to work and prefer ones thaty communicate with a hub for a local solution. I've got 8 on the way, and if they work, I plan on putting them through the whole house.

    • Can you get outdoor fittings and use Hue GU10 bulbs?
