Back from overseas, go-to mobile plan?

So, i'm back from working overseas for half a year, plan to stick around for 9-12 more months. Currently in quarantine so figure I should get as much stuff sorted while I can.

Now I disabled my Belong sim back in February-ish because it turns out you can't even receive texts while overseas which made it useless for me banking-wise.
As such I'm looking to see what sim I should order from my reentry into aussie society. From what I gathered, Catch Connect would be the go-to deal ($3.30/month for 3 months) but their ridiculously cheap deal is expired now.
Kogan ($5/month for 3 months) would be an option if I had a number to port-in but seeing as my belong sim got deactivated i'm guessing that's a no-go.

So is my best option going back to Belong and opening a new account with them with a new number? I think I can arrange through the hotel to get the $25 for $10 from Coles (actually need to call concierge to clarify, maybe I'll have to pay for delivery idk). From what I can tell I'd be best off going for the $25 for $10 and then switching to Kogan (rather than do the same with the $40 for $20).

On a side-note, my mobile got damaged while overseas so if anyone knows a cheap deal on a 2gb ram phone, preferably around $100, I'd appreciate it (bonus if dual-sim). Was hoping to find a bunch of deals with end of financial year but no luck.

  • Weelp, seeing as getting a belong sim would cost $5 delivery or something from Cole's anyways, I've decided to just get this Vodafone deal because free delivery to my quarantine. Also I'm starting to feel ill so can't be bothered overthinking it..
