Best Android Phone with The Best Night Camera Shot around A$500 Range

Wife is searching for a good Android phone with the best night shots!
I tend to recommend cheap ones like Oppo in the 2-300 range if its just for photos but she tends to be ambitious on what she can get from $500 and always end up wanting the above $1000 range phones.
I'd like to ask for help if I'm being realistic and if you have any recommendations
I owe her a birthday gift since March, hence my budget.

Hoping I can get the latest or a year old processor, higher RAM/storage as possible and long or decent battery size (or hrs of usage)

thank you in advance all!

If you want to take nice photos at night you should buy a camera and a suitable lens.

    • yea no, need a spare phone at the same time so still would rather get a phone.

    Google Pixel 3/3a
    Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

if stand-alone camera is ok, Sony RX100 (pick whichever generation fits the budget).

  • Pixel 3a - it might be slightly above at $649 but it's can definitely go toe to toe with the flagships. If she is okay with one camera on her phone, I think that would be the best option at that price.

Huawei Nova 5T (it has google services) at $499 seems like a great fit at your budget of $500 with 8GB Ram, an older but still flagship processor, large battery and 128GB storage. Huawei were the pioneers of the night photography trend and have been leaders in this space.

Other mention - LG G8S ThinQ (currently half price at JB for $499 has a high end 855 processor, 8GB ram, 128GB storage, OLED and triple cam but a slightly smaller battery than others)

    Hope that helps

    • thanks let me check this out too..

Google Pixel 3 is $488 at Harvey Norman clearance at the moment. Pixel camera's Night Sight is great.

I can see most recommendations are for pixel 3a and I don’t argue. But if you are going that route, may be worth holding on a little bit as pixel 4a could be just around the corner.

Any android phone with Snapdragon processor. Just install google camera app manually. You will get great photo for HDR+ Enhanced mode and night sight/mode. Search celsoazevedo web from google. You can choose a lot of gcam mod version from modders like Parrot043, PitbulL, onFire, etc. Google camera app is the best.

Previously I tried to install it in a Samsung phone without Snapdragon processor, but failed.

  • S10e gives this
