HP Pavilion X360 14-DH1018TU 14" 2-in-1 Laptop $999 @ JB Hi-Fi

21

Cheapest anywhere I can see and decent current gen specs for EOFY.

14" diagonal HD SVA micro-edge WLED-backlit multitouch-enabled edge-to-edge glass, 220 nits, 45% NTSC (1366 x 768) display
Intel® Core™ i5-10210U (1.6 GHz - 4.2 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores)
8GB RAM
256GB SSD storage + 16GB SSD 3D Xpoint
Intel® UHD Graphics
2 x USB-A 3.1 Ports
1 x USB-C 3.1 Port
Multi-Format Digital Media Card Reader
Webcam
Realtek Wi-Fi 5 (2x2) and Bluetooth® 5 Combo (MU-MIMO supported)
Windows 10 Home Plus

Cons:
Single slot RAM
3-Cell Battery
No USB C Charging

I like the fact that it is a touch screen with a backlit keyboard. I'd sawp the RAM out for 16GB later if needed. Ideal for home or office use. HP Fast Charge 'goes from 0 to 50% charge in approximately 45 minutes'. I guess 1.6kgs for all this tech is acceptable.

      That's fine. For 399.not 999

  • Compared to recent Dell deal this a big let down.

    • Which one was that?
Yes, this isn't much of a deal but we have 5 days left for EOFY and nothing decent has come out this week.

    220 nits, 45% NTSC (1366 x 768) display for $1,000
    What a joke

    • they cut corners a lot!

  • Got a supposed high end HP ultra book from work and it is the worst laptop out there.
Fan is very loud even when idling. Opening a simple Excel document puts it in overdrive.

I would stay well and truly away from any laptop that HP produces.

    • It sounds like an issue with your laptop. Have you had it looked at? I have a HP Elitebook x360 at work and it is brilliant. The majority of staff like them too.

      • Yeah I got the same machine.
Due to the lock down and all, haven't had a chance to get someone to look at it.

Overall though I have never had a good experience with HP.

  • Jeez.. any one of the recent Dell/Lenovo deals are better than this..

  • I'm not sure who to blame here, HP for making these or JB for selling them.

  • It isn't that bad, I have seen many pay that much for an i3, 128GB, non-backlit version at JB's. But I got the Ryzen 5, 8GB, 256GB, full HD Envy for less from HP's education site. Remember this is touchscreen and 360 so you can't compare price to a traditional laptop if you are after those features. Webcam in all these are terrible and battery life is just acceptable. If you know anyone with a .edu.au email, definitely check out the education site.

    • I normally defend cheaper laptops with HD only screen, but this screen truly belongs on sub 600 dollar laptops. It's definitely unusual to see it on a machine at 1k. The 8gb ram and 256gb drive puts it one tier higher, but that would bring it up 200 bucks tops. I think it's a bit of a slap to the consumer's face to sell something like this at this price, even with the ability to fold.

      • Yeah I agree mostly of course, as I got a HD Envy for less, but my daughter has been using a Apple MacBook Air with 1366 x 768 screen for 3 years and the lower res screen has not once been an issue. But yeah at the education store it would probably be in the 600-699 dollar range.
