    Buyer beware with Arlo Pro 2 - make sure you know what you are getting.

    The Arlo Pro 2 video quality issue is still not resolved, so as long as you are not expecting good 1080P video, you might be happy with them.

    Now up to nearly 450 comments in this thread;

    https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Pro/Video-Pixelation-afte…

    And still no real comment or resolution from Arlo.

  • My Arlo Pro 2 isnt on that firmware. Says its up to date too.

    • The current (and BAD) firmware for Arlo Pro 2 cameras is - 1.125.14.0_34_1189.

      It changed to this in late April this year, and video has been really poor since then. Arlo has "fiddled" a bit with some settings which seemed to make a marginal (barely noticable really) improvement to the pixelation issue, but they have done nothing to release a working firmware.

      The thread refers to both Pro and Pro 2, so make sure that you are looking at the correct firmware version in the thread.

      The same happened last year in May 2019, but the reduction in quality wasn't as bad. It took Arlo until about October 2019 to release a firmware that reversed some of the stuff up. It did not fully reverse the quality reduction though, and with every firmware update Arlo has been slowly eroding the video quality to the point now where my old original Arlo 720P cameras produce videos that have better quality and larger file sizes than my supposedly 1080P Pro 2 cameras. In theory, 1080P has slightly more than double the pixel count compared to 720P, so the video files should be at least twice the size, but they are actually smaller - and the 720P cameras have reduced in bitrate (file size) over the years as well.

  • Arlo is effed after split from Netgear. Customer service is awful, read forums before buying.

  • I have moved from Arlo Pro 2 to Reolink, (So much better both wired and wireless in terms of video quality)
    My friend has Eufy and they seem way better in terms of video quality when compared to my Arlo.
    I do not recommend buying Arlo . Do your research before making a purchase.
