FYI to purchase same hardware on its own (no installation) would be around $1200

You are right but that will most likely be Grey Market Import are tricky to upgrade with latest firmware or claim warranty if there is an issue

      • -1

unlike hikvision, dahua firmware is easier to work with

        • +2

You must be new to Dahua then…

      • +3

I quoted price for international model (IPC-HDW4631EMP-0280B) from local authorised Dahua supplier, not a english hacked chinese import (IPC-HDW4631C-A) which is prone to firmware upgrade issues and basically no warranty.

        • +1

Got 11 Dahua IPC-HDW2531 for $946 inc GST from CRK last week with their EOFY deal. Much better than 2 years+ old HDW4631. Happy as…
Never ever touch grey stock. There is no way to upgrade firmware, nor warranty.

          • @hotwinter: They also has Dahua 8ch POE NVR4108 with 3TB HDD for $299+. Can't beat that price for genuine product with 3 year warranty.

          • +3

@hotwinter: out of interest , how did you hear about their eofy deals ? cant find it anywhere , thanks

            • @bigguyoz: I've got the info from a friend always buying stuff from C.R.Kennedy. Their June EOFY deal has HDW2531 buy 10 get 1 free; NVR4104, 4108 buy 5 get 1 free.

          • +1

@hotwinter: Is this CRKennedy? Can’t see any prices online.

            • @spasto: Give them a call if you are interested. Tomorrow may be the last day for their EOFY deal.

            • +3

@spasto: Pretty strange running a kind of silent sale… here is some of their EOFY deal info:

@hotwinter: I'm looking to get a setup for my home but know next to nothing except have heard good things about Dahua, Hikvision, and are apparently the way to go for those in the know. Are these ones a good camera and can you recommend some resources to read tonight to get a quick 101 on what to get, and the differences between all these cameras? Might give them a call tomorrow. I don't often see dahua coming up even though I've got my alerts on.

                  @sirspiff: https://ipcamtalk.com/wiki/ip-cam-talk-cliff-notes/

This is worth a read if you're looking at getting started with IP cams

                  • @jamestownfx: & hotwinter great thread thank you. Is there a way to know who the best installers would be?
jamestownfx Will have a read thanks.
Assuming then with IPCs it uses cloud storage?

                    • @notout50: Sorry, don't have best install to rekon apart from myself in WA…lol
I'm working in the CCTV industry, but not installing cameras for living currently.

                • @sirspiff: Sorry for the late reply. I don't have any quick answer for such a complex topic. These surveillance technologies evolved so quickly in the past few years. Suddenly all the big players used to be has only political advantages left.

          • @hotwinter: Is this the one you're referring to? https://surveillance.crkennedy.com.au/products/ipchdw2531tma… (IPCHDW2531TMASS2)

I'm using https://calculator.ipvm.com/ to try and map my cameras, but I can't seem to find the DH-IPC-HDW2531TMP-AS-0280B-S2. The IPCHDW2531TMASS2 shows up as a 4MP camera.

            Is this a good camera?

            • @sirspiff: Sorry for the late reply. IPC-HDW2531 is a 5MP@20fps or 4MP@25fps camera, and it is a model excluded for CRK. There is a free Dahua tool called DiskCalculator inside their ToolBox. There are many nice tools inside ToolBox. Has to register a free account though. https://www.dahuasecurity.com/support/downloadCenter/tools/M…

            • +1

@sirspiff: Is this a good camera? This is the BEST quality IP camera on the market today for the price. Hard to find anything around $150 to beat this camera. You have to pay $200-250 for similar camera 3 years ago.

  • How long would this set up last when the power is cut?

    • 30 minutes

    • U can always get a larger ups.

  • +5

Good price. How reputable are these guys? Can anyone vouch for them? I'm overwhelmed by with the amount of installers there are out there, how do you choose one from the other?

    • +2

This guy also goes by the name "UTech Solutions".

Unfortunately the pics on Facebook aren't great workmanship, the camera placement leaves a lot to be desired

  • +2

there is no mention of price variably depending on the house parameters
eg single vs double story, what sore of roof, existing wiring… etc

I assume all those sorts of things would change the price??

    • For 2 story house, most (if not all) installers will charge extra - around $250 from experience.
