a cut ppe bottle will do the same thing which cost nothing but better for the environment
I have done this for a Carnivourous plant with a 2L Coke Bottle and it works great.
The moisture is greatly retained and it can survive Perth summers.

How much is it normally?
Never tried growing eggs in a greenhouse.
