Oppo A52 seems to have better specs for around the same price, but misses out on Android One.
Android One overrated on Nokias - Xiaomis in this household got A10 months before the Nokia 5.1+ did. And if you don't like Color OS 7, get a clean launcher eg Poco Launcher. Otherwise the A52 is a cracker for the $$$.
No more Nokias here either due to the failed USB-C port…fixed under warranty at least.
It's not just speed of updates though but how long the device is supported. Android One guarantees 2 years of OS updates and 3 yrs of security updates. Flicking through the updates page on the Oppo website shows their support is pretty inconsistent across devices.
Great specs for the price, my mum currently uses the Nokia 6.1 2018 so this would be an easy transition to a new device
This or Samsung A51? Don't play games. Camera and versatility is important to me (ie. all network bands, NFC).
A51 is basically double the price, this is more comparable to Oppo A52 or Samsung A31
Both Oppo and Samsung would be miles ahead in term of specs. SD665 is basically SD660 but more energy efficient, Helio P65 is actually faster than Helio P60/70/SD665 due to newer CPU architecture. This has SD636 which is older, slower and less energy efficient. Samsung has AMOLED screen while Oppo is almost as cheap as this deal.
Also you will get Android 11 as the final update to Nokia. Both Samsung and Oppo are likely to get A12 (Samsung is a guaranteed, not sure about Oppo).
GF got an A51 last week for $289, so reasonably comparable price wise (do a search on here if interested in the A51 deal). I was going to get a TCL Plex, but maybe the A51 is better.
For $289, are you sure its the A51 because that's an insane price.

I would buy the 5.3 currently $279 at jb instead. It's a later release so you will have more security updates and from what I've read runs well.
The Oppo A52 (2020 model) is $270 at the Goodguys commercial everyday for those with access.
