Got mine today, somewhat similar to An0nx, it is the silicon is already peeling off the bottom left of the keyboard.

The drum pad seems ok, except for 1 part that doesn't seem to register as reliably as the rest.

Can't get the loop block to do anything yet.

I have had fun playing around with it so far though, the included Melodics game is great for me learning to get some rhythm and touch sense of the pads.

I am going to be keeping it, if the keyboard gets a lot worse, maybe go for a warranty claim.

I'd feel ripped off for $1k, but for half that, I think I will get my value. It's cool just having a keyboard connected that is pretty nice to the touch that I can play while waiting for my computer to load things for 10 seconds here and there.

Received mine today (delivered) from a store in Brisbane (Southside)

Clearly used/demo stock as it’s covered in sticky grime all over the back and sides.
I’m seeing a trend here - JB selling off the floor stock without declaring it as such.

    https://ibb.co/G0hxpYr

There is a chance it may clean up ok, but I shouldn’t have to :(
No doubt they will not have any other stock and just offer a refund at best.

I called the store and got a generic “Weird - Bring it down to us and we can take a look” - which I won’t as the was delivered.

Have logged a support case on their website to see what can be done.

When you received the item was there any opened tape on the box? I'm tempted to cancel my order but maybe my one might be new stock as they are getting shipment soon.

      • +1

The box was sealed with a generic “clear dot” sticker about the side of a 20c coin. Which had given me hope, however as you can see from the pictures, it’s not even close to new - I mean - they didn’t even attempt to clean it up!

        • That's really poor form by JB.

You can't sell floor stock, even at a discount, without advertising it as such. It's not a deal if it's 'damaged'.

It seems JB has a history of doing this - these comments tend to come up from time to time in their deals on OzB.

It's also possibly a return, and they didn't bother to check and clean it before putting it back into stock.

      • JB website just 404’s on the item now - so looks like an exit strategy

    • @snaggot Mine arrived today. I also have that marking on the sides, the rest of it is clean. The box was sealed with the clear dot.
The block and seaboard were both completely flat though, were yours? Taking ages to charge.

      • Thats so strange that you have the same marks - makes me think this might be beyond JB and possibly with Roli themselves? Its very odd though that all the discounted units are showing sines of being used, in addition to JB pulling the product completely from their site.

You going to try clean it up and keep it?

      • Mine was completely out of juice when delivered. Took half a day to charge on an iPad charger.

So I bought this last week with 50% voucher. It turned out to be a used one when I registered with Roli and couldn’t even download the software. After Roli cleared registration, then I found out the kit Bluetooth cannot even be detected. Took it back and they couldn’t replace as everything was sold out. Emailed back and forth with the online team, what they could do was just refund. Very disappointed with JB.

    • +1

They really should just sold it as ‘demo/ store return’ stock.

      • I'm wondering if I should just cancel my order.

Has anyone received a unit that looks, feels, and functions as it should? ie. Brand new!

        • I'm thinking of trying to clean mine up - the pad and transport blocks appear to have been not used - the seaboard has clearly been used however the keys/rubber is in as-new condition - its the sides and underneath that clearly have "street grime".

As others have stated, battery was completely flat on all the blocks and were running the OG firmware.

I cant get it to popup in my BT devices yet, might just be a process issue on mypart.

So as much as JB can EAD for selling used gear as new - if it cleans up well ill probably keep it.. maybe.

Wow that's pretty bad, so did Roli let you register the software again? The software is the main reason I ordered, it's worth about $200-300. Mine still hasn't shipped, I think I'll just cancel now and avoid the headache.

      • +1

My software had not been registered - all good on that front.

Mine also cleaned up to be as-new. Also found the Bluetooth issue was just me not knowing how OSX managed BT MIDI.

That seem to be working now too.

At the end of the day - if you get a device that the rubber top is in top shape - you can probably clean the rest up and enjoy what is still decent value for 50% off.

        • +1

Lucky you. I agree. I would have kept it if without Bluetooth problem.

      • As long as there is no problem with the hardware, you could always just contact Roli directly and ask them to clear the pre-registration and give you the software. I tried it, it worked.

  • +2

Wouldn't it be covered under warranty by Roli?

    Replacement?

  • +1

Mine arrived. It looks alot better than some photos here, but there are definitely marks on the back, and signs of it being wiped down to try and clean it. It's probably fine, but for this kind of thing I don't want to risk it and on principle (I was sold a brand new item, not a used one) I will try to return it.

When i turn the block on it shows me this https://ibb.co/rwHvz20

    • Funny if you've done this for the joke. But if it's out of the box then I'd be furious.

      • +2

I havent done it. it flashes it up for a second each time i turn it on, scuse the pun.
Its a combination of the battery lights and the score from the shooting game Blocksvaders that can be played on the block

After reading the comments here I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on this deal… Shame on JB for selling display stock as new and having the audacity to further advertise it falsely in EDMs.

  • My order is still processing, Im going to cancel it. Thanks for the feedback.

    • +1

Has anyone who received marked stock spoken with JB to ask ‘what the f<*#’?

My order also still processing but ETA for me was on or before 27 July.

        Currently in the same position

Yeah I'm in the returns process now. Gotta send it back to be 'assessed' - though this probably just means they need to make sure it's not destroyed before refunding me.

They didn't say anything about the fact I thought it was ex-demo/refurbed.

  • RIP. Got an email saying they have no more stock and have initiated a refund. Got a $50 gift card though.

    • same here

      • +2

Yep - $50 and no Roli here too.

It's not great form to promote the item as one of their coupon specials but not even have stock. Anyway, appreciate the voucher gesture. Prefer that to the seeming alternative of receiving banged up repackaged stock - as per some of our fellow members above!

        • Yeah, the voucher was probably the best choice. Roli is currently in some financial trouble and had to sell some of their assets. Probably explains why there is no more stock from JB HI FI and Roli themselves.

    • Not bad though! I got the device, but like many other I highly suspect it was ex-demo or refurbished stock and ended up returning it (still in the hands of AusPost).

  • If any of y'all is thinking about returning it, I'd be more than happy to have a look and see if I'd be interested. JB HiFi cancelled my order and I couldn't be more disappointed. Always wanted one of these.

    • still chasing one?
