  • How does this compare to their Sangean WFT-1D Plus at http://www.ryda.com.au/Sangean-WFT-1D-Plus-Internet-Radio-Se… for $348.85?

(Not really in the market, but I'm guessing the WFT-1D+ is a later model?)

  • The WFT is described as a component tuner, which means you add it to an existing home theatre or hi-fi system. It has no speakers. The WFR is self-contained. Its own speakers output 5 watts each. It can be connected to a system, but only through analogue line out.

  • On eBay, it's as low as $325 shipped (in AU).

Harvey Norman's has a reasonable range of these to see (sometimes discounted to about this level) & buy off-the-shelf.

Some other brands begin at lower cost; there are more portable models among them.

I'd Google for "Internet Radio" to see do a market survey, ie, BEFORE settling on any particular model. Read reviews, too, as this is a new market, & some have reportedly had models small issues or limitations.

No public library or (multi-)cultural centre that has enough Internet bandwidth to support one should be without one… not necessarily this particular model, of course.

PS Are there any good web sites that offer No-Hardware-Required "Internet Radio" functionality, ie, as alternatives to buying such a costly box… at least for those whose computers run 24x7…? :-)

    • Media players like iTunes have Internet Radio. or you can just google and play with your favourite media player.

  • Why doesn't it play OGG format audio? :-/
