          No I don’t think so, if you play new release at ultra setting, I don’t think a 2060 will be able to play at 144hz.

        Pretty sure this is the maxq variant of it. It's also the lowest power 80w variant.
        Given traditionally HP Omen models were known as hot and loud even when handling the 80w maxq gpus, there's simply no way they can put a 115w maxp component inside.

        It is powerful but the Ryzen 4000 series of CPUs are just monkey stomping the Intel 9th generation and 10th generation too. Buying an intel chip in a laptop today makes very little sense for the long term.

    I'm pretty sure this is 2080 Max-Q. I haven't seen a full 2080 on a 15" laptop so far. HP and Dell are common in not providing the "Max-Q" wording on their listings.

    The non Max-Q version should actually be called Max-P or Max Performance.

        Yeah it's pretty good.

        Sub 3K for the top of the line (2nd I guess technically) is pretty good.

        HP build quality and thermals are probably way more relevant, you'll have to search for buyers reviews.

        The Max-Q thing is all about thermal throttling to stop meltdown of other internals, so you can probably fill in the gaps about the thermals of this one.

        A true high end gaming laptop is rarely portable and rarely wireless lol

            @syousef: I believe the cards themselves are the same but the Max-Q versions have aggressive unchangeable throttling and physically reduced heatsinks to fit thinner form factors.

            It's a weird choice since laptop thermals are always going to be a problem, though heat pipe tech and phase change cooling are moving pretty quick.

      2070 maxp is more or less the same vs 2080 maxq, usually within 5% margin, accordingly to Hardware Unboxed.

      But the trade off for that moderate uplift is the extra heat, noise and thicker / heavier form factor, something worth considering.

      Thanks for the tips guys. Yeah my own research also indicated RTX 2070 Max-P is quite close to 2080 Max-Q for some games. The reason I asked is because 2070 Max-P has a TDP of 115W while 2080 Max-Q has a TDP of 90W? So I was wondering if thermal gains = meaningful gains.

        Yes normally thermal gains means the card will be pumping out more frames because it is outputting more heat due to working harder which equals more performance so TDP wattage is a good indicator of performance when trying to differentiate between laptop gpu performance right now.

            I mean that's totally not a surprise having 115w of P while 90w of Q. Some manufacturers just like to give users lower power of consumption.
