Refurbished Used Laptop Suggestions

Hi, I am looking to buy a laptop from Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace for work purpose. I am getting an XPS 13 9350 with 16gb of RAM and 512gb SSD for $1k. Is this a good deal?

Also, I live in Nunawading, so COVID 19 restrictions doesn't allow me to go far. I request the kind OZbargainers to help me in finding a good deal. My budget is Max $1000. Many thanks!

    I, personally, wouldn't buy a second hand laptop from Gumtree or FB for 1K, irrespective of specs. $1000 is a lot to lose if you are sold a lemon.

    I'd also say you could get something better than a 6560U for 1K brand new.

          It's for my sis. And she's gonna use it just for her office work.

        If you are using it for work I'd suggest a Lenovo Thinkpad. Built like a tank.

        If you are going for a refurb you can find a reputable computer shop on Ebay and buy an older version Lenovo T or X series. Only suggestion is to get an Intel 8th generation i5 chip as they are quad core, anything before 8th was only dual core.

          100% agree.
          Picked up an ex consultant's lenovo carbon x1 gen 3 for $300 (these generally go for 400-500) and tbh the build quality and battery life are amazing. For basic office work the Lenovo Thinkpads are the go to in the second hand market. Cheap and reliable.
