hard to tell if this guy is an authority and tests for a living or not ….link to an anatech test or other site that specializes in controlled testing might be useful, but that might involve some effort and googling ….

don’t believe donald trump and COVID remedies either.

The difference between a random person running crystaldiskmark and anandtech or other wont turn a slow ssd into a fast one.
I'm more inclined to believe the test ran in a real world scenario than a fresh windows install with nothing else installed.

  • So cheap, but it's not m.2. so can't use it :'(

    • You got SATA ports on your PC?

      • Look, I do, but I have an ITX case, everything is super tight, not interested in running additional power and sata cables.
Also I'd presume a ton of laptop owners don't have sata ports would love a 2tb m.2 ssd.

Thought for a moment this was the EVO model….right price but wrong drive. DAMN.

Sandisk make EVO? I thought that was Samsung?

      • Nope it's Samsung. Samsung drives are kinda dumb anyway when you can get the MX500 or WD Blue (similar performers) for less, but when it's brought down to a lower price with cashback it's definitely worth it.

  • Not sure if this is a good deal, Pre-COVID price for 2TB Ultra was $29x

  • This drive is DRAMless, a good general storage and game drive but I probably wouldn't use it for boot.

    • DRAMless is good for boot because you are only reading from it. DRAMless for read is fine. For writing it isn't as there is no cache.

      • Page file is going to be the death of the drive lol, but when you're spending so much on a 2TB SSD you want it to be a good one that's going to last as long as possible with your money. I doubt a 2TB SSD would be used as just a boot drive, just a boot drive as well as other things.

        • If you have enough ram (8gb+) you can disable page file. Or I put it on the mechanical drive (spinning HDD)

          • @netjock: Isn't putting it on a mechanical drive going to make it really slow?

            • @Void: If you got enough ram the page file is just a placeholder. Apparently windows goes crazy if there is no page file but if you got 8gb+ of ram it hardly uses the page file.

              This might help

  • These drives confuses the (profanity) out of me. Apparently, certain sizes of this stupid ass line up has dram.

    • Lol apparently the 120GB one uses MLC NAND, WTF.
