Unfortunate about inferior plastic design of 512GB and 256GB models for dispersing heat; no problems yet though 24/7/365 plugged into TV for playback of standard 1080p at Blu-ray bitrates (so I should think - however, you may need to transcode DTS to AC3 if A/V desync).

SanDisk Ultra Fit USBs have proved more reliable for my data than my last two micro SD card (i.e. non-USB) purchases from leading brands [SanDisk & Samsung; and here in my limited experience, Samsung EVO Select line leads for least file corruption (in binary comparisons) - surely can't be my card readers to fault].

  • Would something like this be good enough to pop at the back of a Nvidia Shield to playback 4K videos with Plex running as a Server (and client)?

    • I think you'd be better of with a proper SSD (either M.2 or 2.5" SATA) and an appropriate USB enclosure for not much more. The price isn't that dissimilar but it can be used for much more and is more reliable too. These flash drives tend to run hot, and are quite slow for writes, so it'd take a long time to put anything big on.

      • Yeah fair enough! Makes sense.

  • Used it for my computer, brought in late jan this year, not showing up now I think it blown up so lost everything on it.

    • I had similar issue with the drive that I bought 2 years ago (most likely the previous model), I wouldn't put important files in this drive OR at least has a proper backup.

My bad, it was samsung brand one, not sandisk
